Falling In

The good, the bad and the lucky

Riding like crazy, they never will take me back to that hole in the ground
The sheriff done framed me, for killing John Davies but that man was cold where I found him clutching his Bible in a ditch to the revival, fear frozen on his pale face. His pockets were emptied by someone I didn't see but the sheriff wants to make an easy case.

It sure doesn't help that I am the first man guilty of breaking a young girls heart. This girl that I mention with her sweetness and contention is the sheriff's only daughter. Though it's been several years, he won't forget the tears and the promise he made that night. Said, “I'll get that boy and steal every ounce of his joy for the tears he made my Princess cry.”

Now I'm running for the border, there’s no law and order this side of the County line. My horse is getting tired my eyes are on fire from riding hard all day and night. I hear murderous voices and a dozen snarling horses getting closer, closer all the time. And I don't stand a chance it if I don't think of something fast and give this posse the slip tonight.

I came to a crossroads where the Colorado river runs shallow and wide. Through some divine providence I found my deliverance in a skiff on the banks of the other side. Tied my lantern to the saddle and slapped my horse goodbye. Floated down south all the way to the mouth of the river on the Mexicali side.

Woke up in a daze with the sun a-blazing, was it all a crazy dream? When three gorgeous angels with no common language carried me off the beach. they brought me back to life and I made one of them my wife in a church just up the hill. I started out as Henry, now that's a distant memory because here me llamo es Miguel. 

No more riding like crazy.
