Der diesjährige April scheint von vielseitig verspulter Art, doch selbst dessen vielleicht weniger erfreulichen Begebenheiten halten uns nicht davon ab, eine musikalische Ehrenrunde mit Sarah-Mo und ihrem Partner in Crime Amunik aus Wien zu drehen.

Die Leidenschaft zur Musik begann bei Beiden schon sehr früh. Marisa hat schon mit 14 Jahren in diversen Clubs in Europa mitgewirkt―sei es hinter oder vor der Bar―und sich dabei schnell in die elektronische Musik verliebt. Nach einigen Jahren begann sie selbst, Veranstaltungen in Wien mitzuveranstalten. Als Teil der Heimlich Crew, die sich aus der Sehnsucht unter einigen FreundInnen nach mehr downtempo Partys geformt hat, nahm sie auch an diversen Festivals wie der Bucht der Träumer oder dem Aufwind in Wien teil. Sie selbst fühlt sich außerdem in ihrem zweiten Wohnzimmer, dem Lichtbogen, zu Hause: ein Veranstaltungsort und Projektraum für audiovisuelle Kunst.

Musikalisch entwickelte sich Sarah-Mos Stil anfangs aus melodisch-deeper, auf Afterhours zusammengestellten Tracks. Vor Publikum gibt sie diese nun seit kürzerem ebenfalls zum besten, jedoch bezeichnet sie ihr Lieblingsgenre mittlerweile als eine Mischung aus Melodic Slow Techno, heruntergepitchtem Afro House und organischen Sounds. Die Mischung schmeckt, sagen wir.

George alias Amuniks Werdegang hat ebenfalls schon früh seinen Lauf genommen. Im Alter von 13 Jahren nahm er bereits Mixtapes mit Platten auf, sodass das Auflegen zum festen Bestandteil in seinem kreativen Leben wurde. 1996 gründete er mit seinen Partnern die Band APHRODELICS. Als Plattenfirmen auf sie aufmerksam wurden, konnten sie mit ihrem erfolgreichen Single-Release „Rolling on chrome“ (1998) ein größeres Publikum erreichen. Abseits von seiner Passion zum Hip Hop hat er sich schon immer für die Welt der elektronischen Musik fasziniert, sodass sich sein Stil als eine Mischung aus Tribal, Slow-Tech und Afro House beschreiben lässt.

Label manager and self-confessed music nut, Moisés Lourenço , also known as 'txäi', never imagined doing this when he was holed up in his bedroom in Uberaba, Brazil, making mixtapes for his college friends in 2013, in partnerships with his hometown's local scene collectives, Mi_animalism and LCDBCT, djing and collaborating in creative occupations on public or abandoned places. And, from there on, embraced and strove to give a boost to his brainchild @CasaCaos - whose curatorship has been exploring slowcontaminated beats since 2014, at that time, also followed by the example of an engaging cultural underground street-party musical scene in Sao Paulo.

It took a while before he considered himself a DJ, this fusion between artist-listener-audience; mainly for not having a lot of public appearances, maintaining a low-profile behavior and taking DJing in a 'just for fun' approach. But, txäi has delivered several mixtapes on numerous electronic music channels, always engaging a continuous need to delve into slow high-flying territories and hearts forgotten in the rhythm. Through a 60-min session, the Brazilian DJ shared a selection that includes brand-new and unreleased tracks coming from Casa Caos, personal slower paced old gems, downtempo remixes of pop and hip-hop and a slight hint of his current favorite producers.

Aufgenommen und selektiert von unserem Langzeit-Kompagnon "Doob", der schon seit Anbeginn des Dachs wundersame Sounds nach oben katapultiert und bereits das ein oder andere verschickte Kopfkino auf unsere Synapsen projiziert hat! Witchtape #50 | Guest Wizz : ΑRGÁVATHIÁ

(Story continued from Witchtape #49)
The sage – accompanied by his trusted guide owl - entered the forest with great caution, not knowing what to expect and completely oblivious of the fact that he was the very first human whom the spotter birds had allowed to enter into the witch’s forest.  Ever.  So this was the final destination of the sage’s pilgrimage, which started 2 years earlier in South-East Asia and along the road he connected with many different kinds of mysticism and spirituality in all corners of Asia, including an epic passage through the green valleys of Kazakhstan.  Yet his trusted owl kept on leading the sage westwards all the way to this forest in North-Western Europe.  From the outside, it looked like any other forest but within seconds after entering the woods, he sensed an unusually serene energy.  The forest animals were not shy at all, and they were very curious for these two unexpected visitors, with squirrels sniffing at the sage’s feet and when he stretched out his arm, a couple of perky little birds landed on his hand within seconds (not feeling the least bit intimidated by presence of the owl).  The pilgrim now took his time to savor the surroundings, with flowers of the most magnificent colors blooming everywhere and a variety of pleasant scents coming his way.  After a while he noticed that many animals were moving slowly into one particular direction, so he got curious and decided to follow this unusual procession.   The lush green woods gradually became denser and darker, before getting lighter and brighter again as he neared a glade deep in the forest.  The procession of animals ground to a halt while they all looked into the distance.  The sage looked into the same direction and what he saw left him completely petrified.  In a nearby clearing he saw a young girl – maybe still in her teens - with very long brown hair and an immaculately white dress frolic with some animals, including a couple of wolves.  The sage was unsure about what to do (hide or flee), but when he saw all the animals around him watching this spectacle in a relaxed mood, he decided it was OK to keep on observing this mystery girl while staying out of sight in order not to disturb her.

During the Corona-Crisis we gathered to make a stream, filled with DJ sets from our local artists, visual arts, performances and interviews with involved individuals. The recordings took place in the "Lichtbogen" in Vienna, a subcultural space and platform for visual artists.

"Kultur for President" is a network of many event collectives from Vienna with the aim of raising political awareness in the cultural scene. We organize raves, participate in protests and foster discussions and positions against right wing politics or all forms of discrimination.

Wir sind ein Zusammenschluss von Veranstaltungskollektiven, Vereinen, Lokalbetreiber_innen und Einzelpersonen aus dem Kulturbereich und der Lokalszene Wiens bzw. Österreichs. Zum Anlass des Bundespräsidentschaftswahlkampfes 2016 zwischen Alexander van der Bellen und Norbert Hofer haben wir unsere Initiative ins Leben gerufen und waren auch vor den Nationalratswahlen 2017 wieder aktiv. 

Gemeinsam wollen wir solidarische Stimmen aus der Wiener Kulturszene laut machen und uns aktiv gegen Diskriminierung und Entdemokratisierung einsetzen. 

Wir wollen ein Bewusstsein dafür schaffen, dass jeder und jede von uns einen Unterschied machen kann: im Nachtleben, im Internet, am Arbeitsplatz und vor allem in der Wahlkabine.

Wahlplakate gibt es genügend, allerdings fühlen wir uns kaum durch deren Inhalte vertreten. Deshalb haben wir unsere eigenen Plakate entworfen. 

Kultur versüßt uns den Alltag und lässt uns über den Tellerrand schauen. Kultur lebt von Neugierde, Vielfalt und Spontanität.
Was wir am wenigsten brauchen ist ein ausgerufener „Kampf der Kulturen“! 
Deshalb finden wir, es ist an der Zeit für Protestkultur.
