Kultura Collective Mixes

Yo!

Massive release for you all this week from man like @donsurf - a name you may well recognise, having made an instant impact on the scene earlier this year with a first release on EC2A (alongside Bakey) that sold out almost instantly!

This track is a brilliantly wonky dancefloor destroyer, stylistically sitting somewhere between breaks & UKG (with notes of other influences too). It’s packed with twists & turns, with a really interesting structure that keeps the energy building throughout.

We’re honoured to have him on board, Charlie is a seriously impressive producer & just generally lovely guy who is bound to have big things coming. If you didn’t already know - now you do!

We don't usually do premieres, but we made an exception for our guys @crazed-behaviour - after hearing the tracks for their upcoming V/A 'Counter Attack' this one was an instant favourite - so we're very happy to be the ones sharing it! Mind blowing tune from our boy @teenorthwest (who featured on our first ever Kultura & Friends edits compilation)

The whole compilation drops Friday 2nd April (Bandcamp Friday!) - over 25 slices of electro, ghetto & 160 madness including 3 tracks from members of our collective.

PREMIERE: Tee - Blackburn Belligerent [Crazed Behaviour]

Another wild creation from @be_lk ! 

This track 'Sinai' is a heavy, percussion centric arrangement - mixing instrumentation from the Middle East and North Africa with classic UK sounds. Genre defying as always, but somewhere on the spectrum of hard drum, tribal, UK funky. Whatever you wanna call it, it's a major groove throughout - broken up only by a huge build up that will for sure rattle some heads in the dance!

Belk - Sinai

Mycelium is the first track from ZeRu, a collaborative project between @nakedwookie & @z_james. It's a mind-bending journey - mixing electro, breakbeat & jungle influences with jazzy harmony & far-out synth design. The result is a suitably tripped out track, with sounds reminiscent of 90s video game soundtracks.

Definitely one of our most off-kilter & experimental releases on the label so far, but still designed to do the job at a rave!

ZeRu - Mycelium

We've known @archauk for quite a few years, some of you may remember one of his tracks back from our compilation last year.

Archa's sound is hard to pin down but he comes from a mix of UKG & bass music influences, with a recognisably futuristic & technical production aesthetic. Sleep Talk brings old school soul vocals into this equation, and the result is a very unique & emotive track that has really impressed us. Very glad to be releasing this!

So we’ve had a hiatus with the label whilst sorting our event, but we're back with a few more edits & bootlegs for the club this summer.

Starting things off with our boy @z_james - a tight breakbeat flip of Q-Tip’s 2k anthem Breathe & Stop - setting the acapella in a landscape of heavy drums, juicy 808s & spacey synths.

Stoked to release this one - we’ve been huge fans of Mezer (@mezerini) since we discovered his music last year - it’s been a while in making but great to finally get him on the label. Guy is so consistent with great taste across the board, fusing booty bass, electro & breaks with cool as you like west coast hip-hop vibes. Deffo get to know if you don’t, and check out the rest of his releases if you fw this one, serious fire!

Specialist in all things breakbeat-related, Cozen has recently bagged himself a vinyl release on none other than Western Lore - undoubtedly one of the best jungle & hardcore labels in the scene today, hard to overstate!

Closing 2021 off with a monolithic track from @z_james & @despamusic - the tried and tested formula of chopped up R&B vocals on top of rattling drums & heavy reese bass is always sure to make people sweat - and it wouldn't be a Kultura release without some twists & turns on the way.

This one has been in the works since the summer, after a lot of fine-tuning it's great to finally get it out.

True the title, this tune is THE shit! A seriously funky, bruk groove that switches up into a vibey UKG bump - topped off with sassy R&B vocal chops, wicked percussion & some signature ZJ chord stabs. Might well get you missing the dance as much as we do!
