KL 36: Aureli

We are thrilled to present you with the next episode of our SoundCloud podcast series which is curated by Egg On Toast (@eggontoastmcr) who is a Uk-based creative. They started their DJ journey playing out in Tokyo’s underground clubs and have since made their way back to Manchester. 

You can catch them co-hosting on their monthly Steam Radio show Amplify, which steps out of the UK/US bubble and plays out tracks that have cultural significance or are just straight out bangers. Egg On Toast made their debut as a producer in January this year, releasing ‘Mirdori Blues’ alongside multiple up and coming Manchester talent. 

Aside from DJing, Egg On Toast is an aspiring documentary filmmaker who is currently working as a visual content creator for community radio station Reform Radio.

KL 37: Egg On Toast

We’re extremely thrilled to welcome @shespellsdoom to our Soundcloud Invite series! We’ve been following him for many years and feel extremely happy to present you with an incredible mix for Kulture Lab. His development has been spectacular and we can’t wait to see what lies ahead for SHE Spells Doom. 

SHE Spells Doom is an experimental Electronic music project created by Zambian producer, Wamya Tembo. It draws inspiration from a number of his influences, such as 80s Sci-Fi/Horror movies, (Congolese) Rhumba/Soukous, Gqom and early 2000s Rap production, which he mixes with House and Techno elements he picked up from his time living in Geneva, Switzerland. 

His style can best be described as hazy but driving - usually seeking to create a visceral atmosphere without neglecting the dancefloor by combining trademark airy synth-lines with heavy drum programming.

The past few years have seen him release work on labels such as Creme Records, Monstart, Sweat Equity, HTS, All Centre and Tresor.. Watch out for his upcoming release with the amazing All Centre and other interesting collaborations.

We’ve got an exciting twist in store for our monthly Cowbell Courtship show. Friend of the label and boss of @bass_water_freak_out @adrian-ash3r organized this episode for us and linked us up with some insane Aussie talent. 

For this takeover episode, we welcome @djlowclearance aboard for what promises to be a wavy journey.

Hailing from Warrang (Sydney), DJ Low Clearance provides us with a high-octane mix of electro, g-tech, techno, and breaks. A versatile selector behind the decks with influences ranging from some of the grimiest breaks around to pop sampled electro and everything in between, Low Clearance bends genres to his will, turning any mix into a blistering ball of high-energy sound waves that delights the senses.

We’ve got another “KL invites” dropping on our SoundCloud today! A warm welcome is extended to @brainraysandquiet who delivered a mix that’s sure to send you deep into the electronic music stratosphere. 

Based in the UK, these two heavy hitters formerly known as the duo “Baconhead”  have a massive release set for 12th September titled “Capsules” which will be out via Quiet. They’ve concocted two previous pieces together, “Slacker” and “Butter”, which were released on #SEAGRAVE (recently defunct).

Through college he perfected his skills as part of M.T.M and H.A.M and continued as part of Midnight Club Collective. He favors pop music and alternative r&b deep cuts to remix. Having worked primarily with Baltimore Club artists and done commissions in the area, he’s since worked with Serpentwithfeet and other artists. His inspiration comes from The Baltimore club scene, Amapiano, Gqom, Baile Funk and many other genres.
He has a monthly gig with Midnight Club Collective where we showcase club culture in Baltimore City.

Rydeen is a musician, DJ and radio host living and working on unceded Wangal and Gadigal land (aka Sydney, Australia). Ry co-hosts the long-running weekly club music show, “Spin the Bottle" on Sydney community station, FBi Radio. Their work has appeared on Juke Bounce Werk, Balamii Radio, Dublab, triple j and alongside the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

A very warm welcome to the talented @eviloliverager from NYC who is inspired by feelings and friends and certainly inspires us too. 

Evilo has been killing it left and right and rinsing it hard in the streets of the ‘Big Apple’ so it’s a wonderful chance for us to share a piece of their talent with you all. This mix hits all the right angles and reveals a welcomed freedom behind the decks which we love and encourage. It’s so nice to hear something a little out of the ordinary from what artists would regularly spin when playing out.

We really enjoy working with artists who have got something unique but rooted going on and feel that it’s an honour to share some of their work for our community. Once again we’ve got a mix of original tracks from the artist himself and his crew which is pure fire! 

@sghclub aka SGH, Has been active in the Baltimore club music scene since late 2010s and has been carefully crafting and evolving his club sound into what it is today. In 2017 he founded @ClubMans which is a collective of artists and close friends who put out incredible music that further pushes the growing club music era. He has also featured in NightSlugs 15 years anniversary takeover on Rinse Fm, featured on Bandcamp's "Best Club Music May/June" for his recent club project "Sorry4The8 - 3"  and you can enjoy even more banging beats and content on the SGH/Mans Plans Youtube, Soundcloud, Bandcamp and Spotify!

Yo what’s good everybody? We hope you’ve been enjoying the change of seasons wherever you may be in the world. Whether you’re moving into summer or winter, we’ve got a mix that will spice up your day and make for the perfect soundtrack for the rest of the weekend. We’re very happy to introduce @assassin-bug who takes the spotlight for our next episode in the Heatwave Headquarters series. 

Assassin Bug produces and spins a range of obscure, bass-heavy styles ranging from grime to jungle, dubstep to footwork, intertwined with moments of sparkly melodic madness. With the ability to seamlessly blend a multitude of underground sounds, experimental beats, ethereal dreamscapes, and synthetic sound design, she guides the room on a journey throughout her fast-paced, driven, dark yet uplifting sets. A producer and multi-instrumentalist first, Assassin Bug is driven by the belief that sound, music, and dance are all essential to human nature and expression.

Heatwave Headquarters aims to highlight artists who dabble in both production and DJing and of course, who we admire. Assassin Bug has been on our radar for a minute so it’s a pleasure to work with her and bring to our audience some of her amazing talent. As a musician first, she has a knack for musical quality which we think shines through all her work. She’s got an awesome project which is sure to become a fantastic space for unique music - keep your eyes on her socials to be in the loop and catch the content when it comes. 

More on that, she'll be releasing her first bunch of EPs before the end of the year as well as a few singles under the collective name 'Bean Sí', and perhaps some other independent labels as well. “If you don't see any releases from me before the end of the year, I formally give you permission to get in touch with me and give me grief for slacking” - Assasin Bug.

@999adj is a DJ, creative director, event curator, digital artist, herbalist. Based in Toronto, she also travels quite frequently drawing inspiration from how music and rhythms hold each place. She aims to curate spaces and works that inspire the receiver to understand the beauty in simplicity and the magic in complexity, while also highlighting and providing platforms for Queer Black artists, she runs the collective HEARD and is a resident on Oroko Radio. Her sets are bassy, polyrhythmic and experimental - always looking to set a groove.
