Before puck drop to start the 2014-15 season against the Guelph Gryphons, the defending Queen's Cup MVP stopped by CJAM 99.1 FM and chatted with Anks Kumar. 

Kumar and PVB talked about the numerous changes to the roster's forwards and defence, the joy that comes as being the team to beat and how a rough exit from the previous season's University Cup prepared him for the most exciting follow-up in recent memory.

The Lancers defeated the Guelph Gryphons 4-2, and followed their season opener with 10 straight wins, for the most impressive start to a men's hockey season at the University of Windsor.

The Lancers finished the 2014-15 season with a 22-4-1 record, first place of the OUA West and first place of the entire OUA conference. After losing to the eventual 2015 Queen's Cup Champion Guelph Gryphons in the OUA West Finals, the Lancers competed against the McGill Redmen for the Bronze Medal and the final spot to the University Cup playoffs in Halifax. 

Van Buskirk made 40 saves on 41 shots, aiding the Lancers to a 2-1 win in Overtime and to a second straight appearance at the 52nd CIS University Cup playoffs, with OUA Bronze around their necks. 

The Lancers could not avenge their 9-0 loss to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies from the previous year's University Cup tournament, and were eliminated from the first round 6-2 by the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds. 

That would be Parker Van Buskirk's last official start in the OUA and CIS. He was eventually selected by the Brampton Beast of the ECHL, and then moved to the Fayetteville FireAntz.

After the McGill Redmen snapped the 11-game winning streak of the Windsor Lancers, Matt Beaudoin joined Kumar on Lancer Sports to talk about his 14 PIM, moving on from the impressive run and how the Lancers would bounce back against another tough OUA East opponent, such as the UOIT Ridgebacks.

Kumar and Hugall talked about the surprising two wins to start the 2014-15 regular season. After a devestating 0-5-1 in exhibition, the Lancers burst out of the gates with back-to-back wins, especially against the 2014 OUA women's hockey champions, the Laurier Golden Hawks.

Lancer Sports - October 14th, 2014 - Women's Hockey

The McGill Redmen and Windsor Lancers met for the first time since the 103rd Queen's Cup. 

In the final minutes of regulation, Spencer Pommells was charged a cross-checking minor penalty. The shorthanded Lancers were down by one and were desperately fighting to build upon their 11-game win streak.

After a tie breaking goal earlier in the third period, the action remained close between the Redmen and the Lancers.

Marc-Olivier Vachon served two minutes for slashing, so the Lancers had a big chance to equalize the score. However, the penalty kill of the Redmen was a far more daunting challenge than the Lancers had anticipated.

A slapshot by Etienne Boutet zoomed past Lancers goaltender Parker Van Buskirk to put the Redmen up 2-1 in the third period.

It was initially believed to be an Etienne Boutet marker, but upon post-game review, Patrick Delisle-Houde was given the goal.

Mathieu Pompei's unassisted effort earlier in the second period tied the contest, but moments later, the Lancers obtained the man advantage. 

As Jonathan Bonneau served two minutes for goaltender interference, the Lancers and the shorthanded Redmen went back and forth - each team resisting the opposition's attempts to set up in the zone.

McGill Redmen VS Windsor Lancers - November 14th, 2014 - Lancers Power Play

It was the first home game at South Windsor Arena in nearly two weeks. The Lancers initialized the scoring,  thanks to defenseman Julian Luciani's searing shot through Jacob Gervais-Chouinard.

Luciani's first goal of the 2014-15 seasn led him towards 16 points (3G, 13A) through 24 games.
