Side A- Super Freak – A remake of the classic Gfunk dance number by Rick James, that got everyone groovin back in 1981.  Trombone carves up the vocal lines in this banger.  Look out for the outro which is an ode to the artist in 1990 who also sampled the original.  This is definitely  a hot floor stomper.

Horatio Luna delivers a funky remix for the first track - Nymphatic - of Kumar’s upcoming album Kanya. Luna brings this signature raw, fuzzy jazz sound to the track, hero-ing the vintage rock guitar sound and bumping up the beat whilst still preserving the original’s uplifting feel. 

Horatio Luna is Henry Hicks, a Melbourne based improviser, composer, bassist and producer. He is a founding member of hip-hop/soul community "30/70 collective", and an active member of the Australian beatz, jazz and soul music scene.

Two heavyweights of the Melbourne jazz scene have come together for the release of a frenzied Horatio Luna remix of Kumar Shone’s ‘Nymphatic’ single. Despite lasting a little over the two-minute mark, the Nymphatic remix stands like a colossus. Stripped back and distorted, the rework brings with it signature fuzzy distortion from the Horatio Luna camp, while the frenzied vintage guitar riff deservingly remains in the spotlight.

Kumar Shome is a talented Melbourne based guitarist and composer who plays and tours with Sampa the Great, Lamine Sonkos and the African Intelligence, Mulatu Astake and A.R. Rahman, The Bamboos, Cat Empire, Dub FX, Ajak Kwai, thando and many more.

Trained as a jazz musician he is able to transcend genres, playing and writing music for styles including indie rock, prog rock, psychedelic, funk, north african, indian classical, edm, hip hop, RmB, world

His project Kumar Shome & the Punkawallahs is a guitar band melding instrumental jazz, funk and world. Featuring some of the best talent in the Melbourne music scene, Graeme Pogson (drums), Yuri Pavlinov (bass), Mikey Chan (guitar) and Gillan Gregory (guitar). 

His influences include Pat Metheny, Can, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Led Zeppelin, Meshell Ndegeocello, Osibisa and Irakere
