Cumbias vibrantes, ritmos afro polirítmicos o vibraciones brasileñas ingrávidas: ¡lo principal es que fluya! En sus sets, A-Lo no se detiene en latitudes, géneros o Beats por minuto ... Los bajos opacos se encuentran con hermosas melodías, los ritmos futuristas se encuentran con flujos orgánicos. Como DJ, locutora de radio, parte del colectivo Ruta40 y de Mash It Up! Crew en Colonia, A-Lo siempre está en la constante búsqueda de nuevos sonidos. Tiene una debilidad particular por las flautas, por eso el escenario del cuarto episodio de la serie PIBASS pertenece a este instrumento maravillosamente versátil y  durante mucho tiempo desestimado. Excited to unleash this new ‘Spacial Cumbia’ mixtape from DJ and producer René Gamez aka Skruper Sounds / SSDSS (Mexico / Global Bass Berlin) who is one half of the influential German-based independent music platform Kúmbale. 

Their mission is to serve as an underground runway between Latin America and Europe.  What started as a pun – “Cumbia Mapalé = Kumbale” – evolved into a sound system that is right now focusing on publishing compilations and championing new and exciting music from Latin America.

About "El hombre caimán"

"El hombre caimán" (Folcore 138) "The alligator man" is an album that seeks to be influenced by the landscapes, traditions and legends of Colombia, interpreted from the sounds of electronic folk with cinematic and psychedelic touches very much in the vein of Thub. Among the songs on the album, "El hombre caimán", "Alborada", "Mientras duermen" and the singles, already released "Darién" and "Sensible" stand out.

About Thub

Thub was born as a proposal of music fusion between the Colombian folk sounds and the techniques of creation and production of western modern music, using synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines as tools to create a colored contour that travels between the rhythms of cumbia and the textures of modern electronic music.

In 2017 Thub released his first album "En el trópico" through Folcore Records and in 2018 he released the EP "Tierra de Nadie" in which you can feel a rhythmic change marked by experiencing other cadences and other tempos.

After a while and through the experimentation of a new performance, the third musical proposal is released in 2022 under the name of "El Hombre Caimán", a work of more than two years of creation, in which a high influence of Bass Music is heard and the asynchronous rhythms that give a unique character to each track and that seek to recreate environments and situations very typical of Colombia halfway between downtempo and midtempo.

"El hombre caimán" (Folcore 138) es un álbum que busca influenciarse de los paisajes, tradiciones y leyendas de Colombia, interpretados desde las sonoridades del folk electrónico con toques cinemáticos y psicodélicos muy propios de Thub. Entre los temas que componen el disco se destacan "El hombre caimán", "Alborada", "Mientras duermen" y los singles que ya se adelantaron al lanzamiento "Darién" y "Sensible".

Melodías, ritmos y atmósferas inigualables, cadenciosos y hasta nostálgicos, se presentan sobre sólidas báses electrónicas matizadas con arreglos dub y minimal.

Acerca de Thub

Thub nace como una propuesta de musica fusión entre los sonidos folclóricos colombianos y las técnicas de creación y producción de la música moderna occidental, haciendo uso de sintetizadores, samplers y cajas de ritmos como herramientas para crear un contorno coloreado que viaja entre los ritmos de la cumbia y las texturas de la música electrónica moderna.

En 2017 Thub lanza su primer álbum “En el trópico” a través del sello Folcore Records y al año siguiente hace el lanzamiento de un EP titulado “Tierra de Nadie” en el cual se aprecia un cambio rítmico marcado por experimentar otras cadencias y otros tempos.

Luego de un tiempo y a través de la experimentación de un nuevo performance, nace la tercera propuesta para 2022 llamada "El Hombre Caimán", un trabajo de más de dos años de creación, en el cual se escucha una alta influencia de la Bass Music y los ritmos asincopados que le dan un caracter único a cada track y que buscan recrear ambientes y situaciones muy propias de Colombia a medio camino entre el downtempo y el midtempo.

There’s something about the old streets of Lisbon: you might be walking past a door and hear a bit of marrabenta and then, further down the street, hints of semba or funaná coming from the open window of a passing car. Lisbon is full of these sounds. And smells, and colours.
D-Mars, a producer who also goes by the name of Rocky Marsiano, grew up as an artist among these Lisbon streets, where he formed a hip hop group with direct ties to Cape Verde and Angola.
Africa was always close, always present. And hip hop taught him that vinyl records are pathways into the past and future, when put to good use in the hands of a DJ or in the inner circuits of an MPC sampler. D-Mars, now residing in Amsterdam, challenged Rui Miguel Abreu, a friend, an ally, a co-conspirator on many past adventures, to select some records from his personal collection.
The result is a batch of vinyl from Cape Verde and Angola, from Mozambique and São Tomé. D-Mars dove in, extracted the deepest grooves from the significant slabs of black plastic, and reimagined Africa with the help of his MPC. Meu Kamba is the result: re-edits with the soul of classic African vinyl, beats that try to answer the wildest of questions – what if b-boys danced to semba instead of funk?

Kúmbale is a German-based independent music platform. The two musicians in charge are DJ and Producer René Gamez aka Skruper Sounds / SSDSS (Mexico /Global Bass Berlin) and Pocho Gonzalez aka DJ Gonzalez (Electropical Munich). „Our mission is to serve as an underground runway between Latin America and Europe. We want to spread our friends' and colleagues' creations. That means we want to support our more established colleagues entering Germany, and offer maximum promotion to the newcomers,” says DJ Gonzalez. What started as a pun – “Cumbia Mapalé = Kumbale” – evolved into a sound system that is right now focusing on publishing compilations. It aims at broadening its activities, starting with music including more forms of latin and “sudaka” arts as a cultural movement. Why? Because we love what is going on at home in our countries and we don't want the party to stop. This is an open invitation to all Djs, Djanes, producers, musicians and bloggers to walk this path together with us. When there is turmoil between north and south things have to move on.
