Bosmans discusses his artist publication Decorations, an annotated and re-illustrated version of the 20+ Years Witte de With book, originally published in 2011. For this Zoë Gray (Senior Curator WIELS, Brussels), former Witte de With curator and one of the original editors of the 20+ book, joins the conversation.

Prompted by the absence of folk art in Witte de With’s exhibition history, Decorations by Kasper Bosmans also features documents taken from artist Asger Jorn’s photographic archive 10,000 Years of Nordic Folk Art, a project part of his Scandinavian Institute for Comparative Vandalism, founded in 1961 as an interdisciplinary institute aimed at ‘vandalizing’ art history.
To further explore the presence of Asger Jorn in this exhibition, Hilde de Bruijn (Senior Curator, Cobra Museum of Modern Art, Amstelveen) talks about her research on Jorn's work and writing, with particular focus on his relation to folk art and vandalism.

What kind of warfare has the world pursued since Obama took over directing the ‘War on Terror’? Are drone attacks and aerial surveillance legal? Susan Schuppli hosts a filmic interlude into her practice as an artist, researcher and pedagogue in relation to her work Uneasy Listening on view at Witte de With as part of Art In the Age Of…Asymmetrical Warfare. Schuppli will be in conversation with investigative journalist Chris Woods, author of Sudden Justice: America’s Drone Wars, to explicate and expand upon their research into the legality of the proliferation of the use of drones for covert surveillance and lethal attacks. Their discussion will be punctuated with extracts from the film Drone (2014), directed by Tonje Hessen Schei, which explores drone warfare, from the recruitment of pilots at gaming conventions, to their impact on the ground, and the civil rights activists campaigning against their use.

Founded in 1990, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art is a public institution in Rotterdam that presents a changing program of art commissions and exhibitions, educational initiatives and events. It also has a longstanding editorial program, which has included artist books, publications, exhibition readers and catalogs, as well as online publishing.

Witte de With has served as a cultural platform for both emerging and established artists, curators, writers and art audiences alike, locally and internationally. Continually revisited is the question of how to define the role of art institutions in relation to artistic experimentation and cultural developments. Its program thus considers the places of contemporary art in the present, and the ways it has been experienced in the past. It also imagines the futures contemporary art may be shaped by—and those futures that art and culture in general could come to shape.
