"Peace Of Mind" is a song with a lot of groove and a progressive touch. It's the first track that takes Molothav's vocal. The idea came when she found a sample with the phrase “peace of mind” and decided to re-record it because it wasn't in good quality. It has a very short break and a longer one - to create a relaxing atmosphere, and a very energetic Techno drop.

Anjunabeats presents extended mixes of ‘199X’, the debut artist album from Damion ‘Damo’ Houchen, aka Genix.

A love letter to rave culture, ‘199X’ is a departure from the sound that Damion Houchen, who we affectionately call Damo, is best known for. Through the late 2000s and 2010s, he caught the ear of Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk with his textured, melodic take on trance. He secured releases on both Armada and Vandit. 

Genix arrived on Anjunabeats in 2010 and immediately became a mainstay in Above & Beyond’s sets with tracks like ‘Aura’, ‘Destinations’ and ‘Black Water’ (the latter written with regular touring partner Sunny Lax). From those origins, Genix has blossomed into a mainstay of the trance scene.

‘199X’ dropped on the label in September 2021. Since the album’s release, Genix has taken ‘199X’ to Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 450 celebrations at The Drumsheds London, Dreamstate, and our recent label shows in London and Miami. Genix has also been touring '199X' in headline club shows across North America, Europe and Australia. Tracks from the album have been supported by Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Joseph Capriati, Paco Osuna, Gabriel & Dresden, Darude and more.

Shortly after finishing '199X', he set about reworking it entirely. He swapped acid bass riffs and pounding kick drums for calmer textures and soundscapes – the result was ‘199X’ (Chill Edition), a complete reimagination of the album featuring Damo’s chillout, ambient and drum & bass remixes. 

Alongside his main stage set, Genix will perform a special chill-out set at Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender festivities at The Gorge in July 2022. He also joins the lineup for the London edition of Group Therapy Weekender at The Dockyards in September. Tickets on sale now (https://aboveandbeyond.nu/tour).

British icon, DJ and actor Idris Elba returns to Defected with the fiery house heater ‘La Trumpeta’. The homegrown DJ turned global A-lister first released with the label in 2020 with ‘No More Looking Back’ in collaboration with Inner City, and in the following years the demand for more Idris culminated in headline slots at Defected’s events at The Warehouse Project and Miami Music Week. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future, as the powerhouse pairing of Low Steppa & Crusy return for ‘Bullerengue’. The Simma Black label boss and chart-topping producer Low Steppa is a firm friend of Defected, headlining many of the label’s events globally including Dubai, Malta, Croatia and Manchester’s The Warehouse Project. Bogotá duo Rush City — aka Jonahlo and Joint4Nine, and heads of the Ritmo Terco label dig deep into their crates for this second vinyl outing, delivering four razor-sharp reworks that balance nostalgia with dancefloor punch. Spanning boogie, Italo disco, electro, and deep house, each track is reimagined with a tasteful blend of analog grit, acid textures, and precise drum programming.

Opener “When Your Ex Wants You Back” breathes new life into Surface’s 1984 boogie anthem, fusing its soulful acapella with 808 rhythms, acid basslines, and shimmering synths for a raw electro-funk twist. Following “Brown Sugar”, lifted from a rare 80s adult film soundtrack, becomes a dubbed-out, indie-leaning acid disco tool — weird, seductive, and undeniably effective.
