How can Britain peacefully increase national security at home, and accelerate sustainable development abroad, by changing its own laws better to respect human rights, while also leading in the fight against climate change?

Professor Leif Wenar discussed his “compelling” (Financial Times) book on why the money we spend for petrol and gas goes to fund foreign threats and crises, and analysed the importance of ‘the oil curse’ in the conflicts in Kurdistan and the wider region. He discussed how Britain can take global leadership for stability and peace by legislating that every country belongs not to the powerful, but to the people.

This new organisation provides expert opinions and debates, focusing on the issue of Kurdistan and Kurdish people in the UK as well as internationally.

As a policy forum Kurdish Progress organises: speaker series, panel discussions and social events, in order to progress the position of Kurdish people in the UK and to offer a space for debating Kurdistan’s position in the world. The collaboration with the British Parliament, local and international think thanks and academic institutions frames our core principle of action.

Our mission is very simple: We want to establish greater significance to the Kurdish question internationally, make society aware of the situation in the region and Diaspora, which has become a historical and intriguing debate. We want future Kurdish generations, to grow up in a society, where they do not neglect their heritage; learn the Kurdish language, and admit once and for all.
