Midnight On Christmas Eve (A Child Dreams) Short Excerpt By Kurt Michaels

This is the epilogue to Didn't Get To Say Goodbye, the song that precedes it on the cd. Didn't want to end on such a melancholy note, and this is my way of expressing how you move on after the loss of a loved one....eventually.

This song got a lot of help from Steve Vining who contributed keyboards, misc, percussion, fretless bass & backing vox in addition to his production expertise. It was definitely the hardest song of the Soaring tracks to write, and ironically emerged as the simplest, least adorned arrangment.

This is a song that was first written back around 2001, and was finally fully produced recorded during the Soaring Back To Earth sessions. It features Billy Sherwood on the drums, with Christ Andronis playing the bass and Jim Gully on keyboards. Steve Vining helped out with the backing vocals.

Nightmare Crossing Over from the 2003 release: Inner Worlds part one

Another one from Inner Worlds part one.....not a very long tune, but I remember it being a lot of fun to put together. This and the title track from that cd are the only tracks on that cd that predominently feature guitar.....I guess I was having so much fun creating in the digital realm that I forgot to pick up my six stringer for 3/4 of that cd! That certainly isn't the case on this song.....

You Don't Say from 2003 release Inner Worlds part one

The story behind this song is that initially I heard Sinatra doing this amazing version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" on the radio while driving around in my car, and I was just blown away by the arrangement, performance and message the song was delivering. I considered doing a cover of it and arranging it in a way that suited me, but then decided instead  to write a song with a similar message that would represent my thoughts a little more accurately. 

This was also the first track that I handed off to Billy and Michael Sherwood to do their thing with, and I was so energized by the results that I decided right then and there I was gonna have to find a way to carry that energy forward for the rest of the cd.
