Based in Essex, UK, The Kuru Smile are a 3-piece Alternative/Progressive Rock band who endeavour to apply a progressive approach to song writing, whilst maintaining the ‘song’ at the heart of each composition.

Formed in December of 2005 the band, initially as a 3-piece, set about writing and performing original music, building a fan with their blend of song based progressive music. In early 2009, they recruited a second guitarist; a move that the band felt necessary in order to bring the emotive layers and textures to an already solid and inventive sound.

Following this addition to the band, they constructed their own studio and embarked upon a lengthy journey writing and recording the ‘Provenance’ album, a definitive step forward in maturity of song writing and attention to detail. The resultant record fully encompassing the broad ranging influences within the band from Soundscapes to Hardcore, from Grunge to Prog.

Made up of ex-members of some notable UK rock and metal bands including Entwined (Earache Records) they have the experience to push things forward.

Having finished recording their debut album ‘Provenance’ in 2010, the Kuru Smile have been focusing on live shows and are now returning to the studio to work on their second album.
