Après quelques éditions forcées à l’arrêt, repoussées, reprogrammées en été, le festival Sonic Protest revient en ce début de printemps 2022 pour tout un mois de célébrations des musiques et des sonorités improvisées, électroacoustiques, bruitistes ou encore expérimentales. Le festival aura lieu du 15 mars au 3 avril, à Paris, autour, et ailleurs comme par exemple à Metz, Nantes, Marseille, Lyon, Bourges, Bourogne et Poitiers.
Pour le célébrer, l’émission de ce soir est composée par Plein Soleil, l’identité sous laquelle compose Jonathan Grandcollot, par ailleurs batteur au sein du groupe Société Etrange, et qui détaille ici une heure de ses musiques aimées en attendant son concert le samedi 2 avril au Théâtre de L’échangeur à Bagnolet. Attention, ça commence.

Uwdar (czyli 1/2 duetu ETNOBOTANIKA) prezentuje album Broken Planet. Wydawnictwo kasetowe oznaczone w naszym katalogu jako SPRK004 to coś absolutnie wyjątkowego. To co pierwsze rzuca się w oczy to sam wygląd kasety. Postanowiliśmy nieco zaszaleć i po raz pierwszy zrobiliśmy kasetę typu full print, a ponadto na dwóch stronach kasety znajdują się dwie różne grafiki w rożnych kolorach, które dzięki efektowi przezroczystości nakładają się na siebie. Do kasety dołączona jest także wkładka z czterema dwustronnymi panelami wypełnionymi zdjęciami, które przedstawiają inspiracje dla tego albumu. Projekt kasety w oldschoolowym stylu współgra z muzyką, która nawiązuje do złotych czasów breakbeatu, jungle i trip-hopu. Dobrze znanym breakom towarzyszą nostalgiczne, syntezatorowe melodie, za które tak polubiliśmy ETNOBOTANIKĘ i oczywiście sample. Jest tu sporo gitarowych wstawek umiejętnie wyciętych ze starych polskich punkowych kaset, ale też echa głosów z VHS (np. klasyczny dialog z Serpico, Beavis i Butt-head!) czy wycinki audio z gier komputerowych z epoki (Tony Hawk Pro Skater). Jeśli pamiętacie czasy pirackich płyt CD i kaset, gdy królowały albumy Prodigy i Westbama, jeśli godzinami giercowaliście we wspomnianego Tony'ego Hawka czy Wipeouta, to ta kaseta zapewni Wam niezły nostalgia trip! Rzecz jasna nie jest to tylko odtwarzanie tego co było kiedyś. Uwdar sięga po oryginalne breaki i przetwarza je na swój wyjątkowy sposób tak, że cały czas mają taneczny potencjał, ale albumu jako całości, między innymi dzięki licznym skitom, interludiom i zmianom tempa, świetnie słucha się w całości. Z tego wszystkiego wyłania się coś jeszcze - opowieść o "Połamanej Planecie". Czy to komentarz do czasów, w których żyjemy lub kondycji nas wszystkich jako ludzkości? Przekonajcie się sami!

Uwdar (that is 1/2 of ETNOBOTANIKA duo) presents Broken Planet album. The cassette release marked in our catalog as SPRK004 is something absolutely unique. What strikes at first sight is the very look of the cassette. We decided to go a little crazy and for the first time we made a full print cassette, moreover on two sides of the cassette there are two different graphics in different colors, which thanks to the transparency effect are superimposed on each other. The cassette also comes with an insert with four double-sided panels filled with photos that represent the inspiration for this album. The cassette's old-school design works in tandem with the music, which harkens back to the golden days of breakbeat, jungle and trip-hop. Well-known breaks are accompanied by nostalgic, synth melodies for which we liked ETNOBOTANICA so much and, of course, samples. There are a lot of guitar interludes skilfully cut from old Polish punk tapes, but also echoes of voices from VHS (e.g. a classic dialogue from Serpico, Beavis and Butt-head!) or audio clips from computer games of the era (Tony Hawk Pro Skater). If you remember the times of pirate CDs and cassettes, when Prodigy and Westbama albums reigned supreme, if you spent hours playing the aforementioned Tony Hawk or Wipeout, this cassette will give you a nice nostalgia trip! Of course this is not just a recreation of what used to be. Uwdar takes the original breaks and transforms them in his own unique way so that they still have dance potential, but the album as a whole, thanks to numerous skits, interludes and tempo changes, among other things, is a great listen. Something else emerges from all this - the story of "Broken Planet". Is it a commentary to the times we live in or the condition of all of us as humanity? See for yourself!

Bassinä is only called that because the man behind it, graphic designer Martin Cramatte, moved from Fribourg to Zurich, where, as we know, French is not spoken and the «ä» is a defining element of the dialect in Zurich, the «Zürideutsch». «Bassinä» could mean something like «put in bass», or somewhat less casually: «More bass!», which is quite an opportune announcement in view of his musical affinities. Bassinä satisfies bored clubbers with dark, sometimes sunny sounds and, as the ultra-short bio says, «all super freaky».

(the) Kurws formed in May 2008 as an unexpected result of a ping pong session. Since then they have pursued their own search, not so much in defined genres, but within the very foundations of rock, expression, and sound. It is a workshop where improvisation penetrates through composed material, a congealed form of the creation process. Armed with repetitions, recombinations, variations and contrasts, they frolic with memory and expectations. Post punk, krautrock, rock in opposition, funk, no wave - they present modes of playing, motives, and riffs we have heard time and time again in a totally different context, dissected from their original environment, placed side by side, used in a brand new manner, deconstructed and distilled.
