“Something In The Water: Hip Hop History in Cerritos”, is a panel series that plans to delve deep into certain eras in the City Of Cerritos & its participation of the Hip Hop Culture. This event is being conducted by Mike Sonksen aka Mike The Poet, artist Mark Bijasa, Pedro Orellana of the Cerritos Library & myself, Dj Rhettmatic of The Beat Junkies.

On this particular event, we are focusing on the historical aspect of the DJ, the music, & the parties that cultivated from the City Of Cerritos with a panel that includes 3 Generations of Cerritos bred DJs: The Swami Scratch, Dj Curse & Dj Melo-D of The Beat Junkies.

I made a special mix that highlights some of the talent & the music bred from the City Of Cerritos. There is also a special limited edition cassette tape that will be sold at the event, courtesy of Strictly Cassette.

Found this little gem on pipomixes a few years back, no trace of it on Soundcloud, so I thought why not spread it around. This needs to be heard. The supremely talented DJ Shortkut of the Invisbl Skratch Piklz lays down an amazing mix of original tracks reconfigured into the hip-hop tracks that sampled them. 

It's only just occurred to me that subliminal inspiration for the jungle reconstruction/tribute aspect of my Eclectic Sample mixes came in part from this guy. Thanks, Shortkut.
