Track 14

This was my first track that wasn't at 140bpm. I slowed things down to 120bpm, although the live drums make it feel faster. At the time, I was listening to a lot of Powell, Shit & Shine, Not Waving, and Broken English Club, and I was inspired by the idea of 'post-punk techno'. About 90% of this track is made from samples from old punk records. It's also the first track that I used hardware on. I had bought a Roland R8 mkII drum machine, and so beefed up the percussion using this.

Kutkh Jackdaw is a Scottish producer and DJ, now based in Brighton, whose productions and mixes take influence from a wide variety of different genres, from post-punk, darkwave and EBM, to synth, industrial and techno. He uses a range of techniques including a heavy use of inventive sampling, combined with extensive use of vintage 80’s hardware.
