Originally from Belgium, Filterheadz are a venerated duo with a highly credible catalogue that's touched labels such as Suara, Codex and Dense & Pika's Kneaded Pains. Their sound is characterised by the astute and technical arrangement of armoured sonics; highly charged Techno that's equal parts heady and uncompromising.

Their offering for Kuukou evinces exactly that as it sees them stand confidently alongside the label's esteemed and expansive roster with a single-shot banger crafted with the summer months in mind.

Drums kick off with forceful alacrity, full of crunch and character as they propel a salacious vocal and sharp, darting rave stabs. The energy encapsulates peak-rave; vehement, lively and bold as the track's elements are sliced and shuffled throughout.

The Southern returns to CLR with the ‘B2basic’ EP. The three-track EP includes a remix from Chicagoan Techno legend DJ Rush.

The Southern returns to Chris Liebing’s CLR this March with the ‘B2basic’ EP, following his two-part ‘Particle’ EP on the label in 2024. Up first is title track ‘B2basic’, a fully-charged cut laced with a wigged-out acid line, primed for peak-time club action. Then comes Chicago’s DJ Rush with the remix, a thrashing interpretation defined by layers of syncopated high-hats whilst a brooding synth guides you into a sense of warehouse rave nostalgia. Lastly, ‘Beg It’ works stripped-back, snare-rattling techno loops to create mesmerising space and depth for the closing track.

The Southern’s high-grade techno has gained support from industry heavyweights like Robert Hood, Ben Sims, Amelie Lens, and many more on impressive imprints such as Truncate, On Edge Society, Kneaded Pains, and, of course, CLR, on which he has become one of the label’s leading artists.

Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has hosted a range of artists like Shlomi Aber, Dubfire, Flug, Bjarki, DJ Dextro and more while also focusing on developing newer acts in the scene such as Risa Taniguchi and Klint.

Next up on Kuukou is a balanced 2-tracker from JAM, Leclub and Pan-Pot affiliate Lucas Aguilera. 

Originally born in Argentina, Aguilera has never shied away from brutal sonics with his records and DJ sets being notorious for packing a particular punch. Recall X carries this signature weight and menace whilst also providing versatility and variation.

'Highway To Hell' kicks off with unparalleled malevolence. A pneumatic kick drills down at the base of the track while contorted vocals punctuate trips down dark, demonic wormholes. Deftly plotted stabs keep things kinetic and groovy but the tension doesn't let up...this is pure bassbin destruction. 

'Recall X' then offers a flip-side to the coin. More dubby in style, the groove slowly stretches out as shuffling toms rub shoulders with sunken submarine signals. Cleverly mapped percussion dances in infectious polyrhythms while filters work to keep the tension partially submerged. A perfect DJ tool for maintaining buoyancy.

Hybrasil debuts on CLR with the ‘Kontrol’ two-tracker.

Irish-born, Berlin-based producer, sound engineer, and live act Hybrasil debuts on Chris Liebing’s CLR with the ‘Kontrol’ EP, landing this April. The two-tracker, starting with the title cut, effortlessly blends inky atmospheres, crunchy rhythm and hurried highs. The artist with credits on Rekids Special Projects and his eponymous Hybrasil label follows up with ‘Release’, a jackin’, vocal-infused track with hard-hitting drums and dark synths. ‘Kontrol’ is the kind of quality, heady Techno Hybrasil has become known for since the project’s inception in 2016.

Run by JX-216 and Sone, From 0-1 is a well-known underground techno label from America that has featured artists like Operator (UK), Hans Bouffmyhre, and Echologist, also known as Brendon Moeller.

In addition to co-owning From 0-1, JX-216 is a producer based in San Francisco. Among his releases are Detroit's Blank Code, Coyu's Suara, Hans Bouffmyhre's Sleaze, Gary Beck's BEK Audio, and SUB tl by HD Substance.

For this DT:Premiere we selected "Pressure Vessel" that has a pummeling kick, throbbing bassline and percussion elements underlying mechanical synths, that swarm and expand for a raw, purist, sound with a menacing vibe.
