Reflecting on my families final migration to New Zealand after darting across the globe for the first 11 years of my life
I landed somewhat of shell, empty but not just empty because I lost sense of self but empty ready to absorb everything I could about the world
There was a strange bitter sweet duality to the move and this is me expressing that

So excited for the next releases, it’s been almost 2 years since I’ve released anything, I’ve been working on producing for myself, directing for myself, building a sound and a visual language.

With A LOT help from @tomdahomie to decipher the madness, we painstakingly too my original song reference, broke the songs down, graphed dynamic, spoke about overtones, art and movies that inspired the sounds.
We consistently pushed things further  and forever indebted to him for the patience and love he’s shown through my sadness, anger and manic energy

Paying homage to his Zambian roots, Kvka puts a modern interpolation
on Amanaz’s classic ‘Khala My Friend’.

The self produced cover highlights KV’s intentions to traverse multiple
genres with his upcoming release schedule.

Amanaz’s original work achieved global prominence for it’s messages of resilience and the importance of friendship. Conversely, KV’s cover could be interpreted as a love song to listeners unfamiliar with the original.

KVKA was born February 14th, thus Valentines day serves a dual purpose; to reinforce the new light in which the lyrics can be interpreted, and to accentuate his Zambian heritage on his birthday.
