Eco Futures

Tucked in underneath the the towering 18th Century Viaduct lay a small cottage in the sleepy town of Angarrack, Cornwall.

I had a delightful afternoon of uninterrupted sunshine in this glorious nook so decided to get the decks out and record a quick mix since it's been a while.

I'm a rusty old sausage since there has been no gigs for bleeds agesss so the mix is far from perfect but then hey, pobody's nerfect

Golden Arches Mix

The Funk is a living creature, about the size of a medicine ball but covered in teets, came from another planet and landed on Kevin G's house, back then he was a simple farmer, but he took one look at all those move titties and lost his mind, he bagan to milk the funk, made himself a funk shake, he started feeling fizzy and was able to see round corners, suddenly he passed out, but when he came to... Baby he was slapping the turntables fast and loose like some kinda delerious funky priest!

It's was time to release your inner fantasies as we went all out Rocky Horror style.
We grabbed our fishnets & wigs then head to the bar where Dj Frank'n' Furter & Riff riff was spinning the decks into the dark night of cosmic debauchery

Last nights recording from our Cornish Bank Olympics!

The night drew close to 1am in Jupiters yard, Worm Disco had delivered an incredible all vinyl eclectic journey through sound and the reins are handed the over to us.

Energy was high and full of anticipation, we started off with a Brazilian carnival dancefloor twister from Snowboy, still hitting hard after two decades!
Cooling things off we then slide into a soothing synth cosmic bubblebath from Franck Roger overlapped with guided chakra meditation from The Rebel Tribe and teasing vocals from St Germain telling us what we want you to do, thank you please :)

I couldn't help add the Kate Bush edit, not because of it's current relevance with a popular TV series right now but it's a song I hold close to my heart reminding me of my birth mother to keep on going / 'running up that hill'
It's very motivational and emotional for me, I hope it was for you too!

Keeping the mood rather sombre, we move into Jimpster's edit of Low Tension by Manabu Nagayama & Soichi Terada, a beautiful tropical balearic deep groove, then flicking the up switch onto a journey masterpiece by Simple symmetry with all time legends The Stallions providing the remix edition on the B side of 'Incredible Adventures In Khazar Khaganate' on Glenview records.

The mix continues into a progressive cosmic tribal onslaught with super compadre and TIKAL drummer TM Daley aka Senior Dick supplying extra percussion on the signature banana-yellow congas, including some brain food from the one and only Sir David Attenborough... eventually finishing off in classic Salsa Picante style with a couple of Flamenco disco edits and a few words of wisdom from Bob!

Tropical Pressure Festival 2022

This summer I was delighted to be part of the drawn to wildlife project, a non-profit art and performance exhibition focused on raising awareness and funds for local charities to help save the planet and all organisms living within it.

The first part of the mix was played alongside a short film, the tracks selected include fund raising albums from conscious label 'Secret Domain' which emit a haunting ambient dark yet tranquil feel. Proceeds from these releases go towards saving the Amazon rainforests, the Pacific and Indian Ocean and various other projects

Eco Futures - Analog forest.
A project from our trip to Sri Lanka earlier this year.
We spent some time volunteering and learning at Belipola, the worlds first Analog Forest started in 1983, by Dr Ranil Senanayake, on a 20 Acre degraded tea plantation. 

It's a tropical haven made of various ecosystems, including native, endemic and endangered species of plants. And it's a experimental growing ground to see which global plants are paramount in creating a productive forest from scratch - an essential study for the future of our environment. 

After our time here we headed south west to TRAX in Ahangama for an Eco Conference curated by our friend Ravi - A day of talks, food and music to address the cause and effect of the eco crisis. 

I've created a mix layering field recordings with wildlife captured from Belipola to create an immersive soundscape, as well as contrasting this with words from Dr. Ranil spoken at the conference to highlight the importance of forests and plants as they gift us with life through their existence 🌱 and mournful poem from Benny Lau, named south coast blues, which describes human monoculture and the changes Sri Lanka are going through.

I was invited to play some records for the Ghana music special at the Jam Jar in Bristol.

Was a real pleasure to warm up for K.O.G again plus incredible female vocalist Lamisi and Jambada, who are on the cusp of an exciting new project beginning this month :)

I Included music by Tafi all stars recorded on Autonomous Africa, a collaborative project to help musicians from Ghana’s Tafi cultural institute build a recording studio and performance space in their village. The power of music is undeniably beautiful.
