Reminiscences a Stock Operator prototyping. 

The Anita Venetian is the name f Jesse Livermore’s 200-foot steel ship yacht. It’s a Gilded Age story. Livermore is the trader the book is based on.

The book is really beautifully written. Livermore was the quintessential turn-of-the-century farm boy. He has a directness in the way he talks about trading and the markets that’s really resonant I think. He’s a gamer. It’s his “game.” And his language is full of fun, folksy antediluvian slang and style. He says things like “sore as a pup” and….

“I am really daffy about fishing.”

He’s a very lovable curmudgeonly character, the stock operator in the book.

This is one of the musical/showtune-style sketches I’m prototyping out in that direction. I think my goal right now is to focus on conjuring up specific moods around the material that I’m curious about.
