I'm Not Okay (A HER Cover) (Jan 12, 2019)

At first, "The Rush" was speaking about how we do so many daily activities at such a fast pace that we often forget and overlook a lot that we should otherwise be grateful for. We get caged up in a certain type of lifestyle in which we follow the same pattern everyday causing us to feel drained. Even the thought of trying to break away from this pattern/routine is scary since it could feel like you’re letting go of a big part of your life which provided you comfort. However, sometimes it’s important for your wellbeing to just fall back and breathe. I wrote this song during a time in which I was feeling really overwhelmed with a lot of life stuff a few months back so I just picked up my guitar, notebook, and a pencil and started jotting. This song could also be interpreted differently in a way in which it describes our quarantine living conditions. Many of us are so accustomed to working 90% of the time and coming home to just eating, showering, and sleeping only to repeat the same process the following day. Now that we don't have that luxury, everyone is being forced to stay at home in quarantine until it is safe to move forward. In the meantime, people are feeling trapped which may cause some to grow tiresome and agitated. It's pretty ironic that what I was writing about seemed like a polar opposite to the average everyday worker’s situation and yet the song still seemed to register for both of our perspectives.
