Kyam is the Cardiff (Wales, UK) based DJ / producer Matt Strangis, with releases on Renegade Hardware, Subtle Audio, Skeleton, AKO Beatz, Foundation X and more. Kyam started the Unbidden Audio imprint in 2018 and joined jungletrain.net in 2017 stepping into the spotlight after being an avid listener for years.

When we asked Kyam to curate a promomix, he didn't hesitate, and you are about to enjoy the fruits of his labor! This month's mix reflects his blend of jungle, drum & bass, half-time, tribal, and experimental styles, with an emphasis on the darker, harder side of the 170 spectrum.

We may not step foot in the water anytime soon after hearing this behemoth. B-side “Green And Red” walks a similar path as percussion-heavy drums relentlessly assault your body.

BIO:
Shiken Hanzo is DJ and producer who has had various release on labels such as Cylon Recordings, Samurai Music, Repertoire, Blackest Ever Blacks sub label A14, Hojo Clan (his own label) and also released his first 2x LP on Inperspective Records earlier this year.
His newest music has coming out as a track on a 2X LP 12” compilation due out on the 17th of November 2021 on the Shotgun Festival label.
He also has a 12” Vinyl EP coming out probably in early 2022.

Free tune, to celebrate the fact that I've finished my next couple of releases for my Unbidden Audio imprint - more news coming soon :)

Mi-Re-Do is a track I wrote back in 2018, and I've been sitting on it as a dub since.

As I've since changed laptops (old laptop failed) and have upgraded Cubase (resulting in the loss of some settings - updated plug-ins not being fully compatible with older versions / certain older 32bit plug-ins not running at all, even via j-bridging), the original project file is no longer available in it's complete form.

Luckily, I'd finished the tune, but unfortunately, I only had a home-limited version bounced down, although it was 24bit.

In light of the home-limiting, I didn't think it was worth getting it pro-mastered, but I still very much stand by this track, and wanted it to see the light of day. I therefore did another few sessions on the tune recently using some dynamic EQ cutting etc, to make a few fresh-ear mix tweak revisions, and I thought it'd be good to give it out as a free download.

Underkind is a DJ and Producer who is currently based in Bristol, UK. Producing since the young age of fourteen, Underkind has banked twenty years of experience. Having recently completed his MA in Sound Production, Underkind has worked with the likes of Gorilla Tactics and Noise Test, as well as released music on Sydonia Recordings, Red Alfa Records and Division Bass. 

He's been performing at festivals and events now for many years including Boomtown, Membrain, Shindig, Jungle Fever & Gorilla Tactics just to name a few. Underkind moved to Bristol so that he could pursue music at the “major home of Bass”. As a multi-instrumentalist, Underkind focuses on creating “deep and technical electronic music to captivate the listener”.

Underkind’s discography to date consists of several releases including: ‘Symbiosis Ep’, ‘King Of Kings’, ‘The Discovery Ep’, ‘Maxim’, ‘The Creator’, ‘Sound Of A Dance’ and ‘Faked’.

Inspired by his ancestor James Baker Pyne, Underkind aims to continue creating new and uniquely artistic work. While travelling, he collects found sounds that he uses in his unique productions. He composes with a blend of software, hardware and live instrumental elements that fuse to form his “hybrid” style. 

This creativity was always a prevalent part of Underkind’s musical approach. Having previously lived with a barman who owned a fishbowl that he used to serve drinks, Underkind would record cars in the rain through the fishbowl to capture a recording which had a “sonic identity” that was his own.
