Recorded in three takes (keys, drums, then bass) using an M-Audio Trigger Finger I had in my backpack, around 2AM April 6, 2004 on a platform floating on the bank of the Hudson river in Troy, New York, at approximately 42.733579, -73.690824. The location was memorable, but the only reason I recall the date is because I saw Dan Deacon perform at Artie's Riverstreet Stage earlier than night. At one point in Dan's set he dropped the mic during the bridge of a song, ran around the block, and tried to pick up where he left off. But someone had hidden the mic.

I keep saying that I'm not exactly sure what is sampled and what's performed on the album, which is part of what makes it so exciting. What I do know is that it bangs pretty hard, is super catchy, and puts an emphasis on editing, chopping, and screwing.
