Abstract ideas gel together into a precisely streamlined experience, simultaneously leaving a vast expanse up to the listener’s imagination. Just A Little

‘Caterpillar’ is the first stage in a 3-part series. The band has been focusing on Biology and evolution as themes for inspiration during their writing process. “The metamorphosis becomes more evident as the other two stages are revealed. It's been a really fun process to work on. Especially because we are bridging the other stages (yet to be released) together.” Says Kevin Donohue. Chris Anderson’s (drummer) younger brother Spencer Anderson is also featured on the violin in the track. ‘Caterpillar’ is the 2nd single released by the band since their last EP with more music to be released in the coming months.

Caterpillar

The album is a mastered recording of the band’s performance at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on April 21st, 2018. The ‘Live at Red Rocks’ set contains three unreleased tracks, treating listeners to their live versions before the studio recordings are officially released. The album starts with the trio taking the stage with fan favorites “Deluxe” and “Pablito” before diving into a 3-part metamorphosis “Caterpillar” > “Chrysalis” (unreleased) > “Night Moth” (unreleased). Additional surprises in the set include a SunSquabi extended band featuring additional instrumentation from Nicholas Gerlach (Saxophone), Will Trask (percussion), Eric Luba (keys), Leah Druzinsky (vocals) and Darryl Abrahamson (Trumpet) on the tracks “Cinnamon”, “Just A Little”, and “Pygmy Up”.

SunSquabi will be releasing “Chrysalis” and “Night Moth” this summer leading up to a full EP in Fall 2018. Keep an eye out for the new music and catch them at festivals all over the country this Summer.

Chrysalis

Sixis showcases a sound design monstrosity, fragmentation of singular particles of sound, colliding into a whirlwind array of future thinking sound production. Dense atmospheric beds swell and tension mounts before unleashing shattering edits and stereo field trickery utilising every shard of the spectrum. 

Demonstrating a masterclass in contrast, juxtaposition and encompassing chops belonging to a true lover of sound design, Sixis exhibits a progressive glitch sound for the true heads and solidifies himself firmly at the forefront of the Enig’matik roster, a collective for tinkerers obsessed with exploring the relationship between lush ambient textures and heavy forward thinking editing techniques.

‘Night Moth’ is the final stage and lead track of a 3-part series that started with tracks ‘Caterpillar’ and ‘Chrysalis’. “Night Moth is the peak of the metamorphosis and really represents the transformation we have gone through as a band over the last year. The song began as an improvisational idea in Madison, WI while on tour. Over time the song took form to what the studio version is today, changing shape and structure many times. This idea was really what spawned the rest of the upcoming album.” Says Kevin Donohue.
