This song follows the brief plight of a drug dealer who is the inadvertent product of cocaine trafficking by the Contras, the army that was assembled under the Reagan administration to overthrow a Nicaraguan dictator. The man in the cover art is Gary Webb, the journalist from the movie "Kill the Messenger", who did an in-depth investigative series about the aforementioned illegal drug trafficking. His report came under fire for accusations that were implied but not stated, such as that the CIA was responsible for flooding the nation with cocaine. However, the CIA was indeed guilty of complicity as they turned a blind eye to the drug trafficking because it was funding the Contras. Controversy swarmed Webb's investigate reports and the newspaper that he worked for jumped out of Gary's spotlight because of it. Gary eventually met an untimely and tragic demise as he was demoted to a lower position with the newspaper he worked for (and eventually he was no longer able to find work as a journalist). I decided to make a song about the trickle-down effects of immorality at a very general glance into the den of a drug-lord who meets his fate sooner than he ever realized.
