My Brother, Cory Grindberg (soundcloud.com/corygrindberg), showed me the song "Tupac Back" by Meek Mill, thinking I would like the beat.  I did.  So much in fact, that I had to create some kind of mashup to it, and Json's song, "Brand New" off his "Growing Pains" release fits it to a tee, right down to the drops.  So, even though I've done a mashup of this Json song before, I was so happy with this one, I had to make it and  upload it.

Got the stems from Andy Mineo's "Heroes for Sale," and immediately went to start creating mashups.  I noticed one of brother's beats that I haven't been able to use in a mashup was the same BPM as the song, and with minimal finessing, the two synced up beautifully!

I love the fast rapping of Stephen the Levite and muzeONE off this track, and have been wanting to do a mashup, but the right beat just hadn't come along, until now!  The doubletime feel over this beat is my favorite part.

Stephen the Levite-Fight Club Ft MuzeONE (Red Velvet Beats "winter solstice" Mashup)

This is another with one of my brother Cory Grindberg's songs that worked eerily well in the context of a mashup, including the sung hook.  My brother's song, "Get Shorty" was going to a be in a project a few years ago that ended up not happening.  The accapella track is from the song  "Complicated" off of Tedashii's fantastic new release "Below Paradise."  The song features a hook sung by Christon Gray.  I only had to do some minor editing at the end of the beat to make the final hook mash up correctly.

Tedashii-Complicated (Cory Grindberg's "Get Shorty" Mashup)

Here is a mashup of Hazakim's" Kingdom Come" off of their new record, "Son of Man" and  the beat off of Righteouz Knight's track "Scrabble Battle" off of his new album, "Abstrakt Theory."

I love Hazakim's new album, but I'm not a big fan of sung hooks in hip-hop songs, while the sung hooks on Son of Man are well done, many of them don't suit my palate (this one in particular, although I did like the reggaeton one on, "Ironclad" and the one in Hebrew on, "Grace and Supplication," but I digress) so for that reason I wanted to make a mashup of this song, and I found a beat I loved. An awesome song by The Collective, I wanted to find a beat that went hard enough for the intense lyrics of this song, and I finally did!  Pro P kills it on this beat.  Anyway, enjoy.

I had AI make a proto metal / doom metal cover of Ligeti: Requiem II Kyrie, and it made something sick which was similar enough to it. I then looked for a hymn on judgment and the terror of holiness on the "Cyber Hymnal" and found this delightful hymn. I then had the AI cover the first song in the same style but this time with lyrics, and this was the result. I absolutely love it.

So, this is a mashup of timothy brindle's track, "The Heart of Christ" off of his album, "The Restoration," with the beat from  "Vendetta," a track off Andy Mineo's newest release, "Uncomfortable."

Alright. Let me stand on my soap box for a minute:

So I got the acapella and instrumental version of Andy Mineo's latest, "Uncomfortable," the beats on this album are sick, and the rapping, considered in the abstract, is very good.  However, after my listen-through of the album, the main impression I walked away with was that Andy Mineo has become the Christian version of Macklemore.  It's all well produced, it's immensely popular, yet maintains that "underground" or "unconventional" sound, but the lyrics are an unreflective regurgitation popular cultural and media attitudes and ideas.  Make no mistake, Andy's a Christian and Macklemore isn't, and Andy has set out to influence the world with his vaguely Christian message.  But honestly, most of the things expressed on this, even the vaguely Christian stuff, were verrrrry Macklemore-esque.

Anyway, since the beats are so sick, I've set out to mash them up with more edifying and convicting tunes.  This is the first (maybe of many).

Anyway, I looove dubstep, and I've been wanting to make a remix using a dubstep song for a while... here it is.

This beat is ancient, my brother Cory Grindberg, (who's a fantastic beat producer), made this thing waaaay back in 2008.  It's him on the guitar and everything.  But, it's timeless in my opinion, and works really well over the flow of this song.  Enjoy.

Okay, I just absolutely love my brother's beat, bartelby, it's a through back to the 90s, but it's got the massive tuba sound of the gangster stuff of the late 00s.  What makes this even better is Stephen the Levite's bounce on this beat, it just fits so well.  Not to mention, Stephen the Levite is one of the best rappers I've ever heard, secular or Christian; the dude kills it.

I've been wanting to do a remix of this song, but I just hadn't found the right beat... until now!  I was perusing on SoundCloud for beats at the same bpm as this song (82bpm) and I stumbled on this gem of a beat.  It somehow has simulations sinister and calm overtones, yet maintaining a Rza/WuTang-y feel.  It love the way it came out.

shai linne-All Consuming Fire (IconBeats "Gemini" Mashup)

For this one, I wanted to find a chill, jazzy beat.  I wanted something simple, more simple than the original.  I found it, on Sound Cloud.  A Boy in the Garden's "A Storm and a Cup of Coffee" was the perfect beat for this track.  I had to do a lot of editing to make it work.  The beat has a that faux 3/4 time, were it's actually 4/4, and for a novice like me; this presented a challenge in syncing the acapella up.  They hurtle was how short the instrumental was, whereas the song itself is like 5 minutes.  I like the way it came out, but if you hear some kind of issue, just drop me a line (I want to learn!)

Wow, like, wow, how did this happen??  My brother's pop-y R&B-esque beat happened to be in the same key, and match up wonderfully to Trip Lee's driving disco beat-pop song, "For my Good" from The Good Life.  It's so great how they match up.
