The street was alive with hustle and bustle as people shouted from apartment windows down to friends below and music played loud from boomboxes on the corners. It was a hot day in the city, the type that might make you sweat. The rumble of the trains could be heard all day long, people being taken from place to place, wherever that might be. He sat there taking all this in, perched upon his park bench, smoking a cigarette, watching as the world went wearily by. This was his city, his funk. 

Black Loops appear on a new compilation for Hudd Traxx, a celebration of the fifteen years that the label has been in existence. It's an impressive feat, especially considering the consistency and dependability of the imprint which has released music by the likes of Dj Sneak, Iron Curtis, Nightmares On Wax, Chez Damier, Rick Wade and many more. 

This track is an ode to house in the deepest, truest of senses.

While we’re less sure about who/what Momios is and why they/it should be fought, the acid and jazz parts of our premiere are self-evident. Fighting Momios With Acid And Jazz is the B1 cut from the upcoming second release of Leicester label, Flat White. Bogota’s Felipe Gordon is the artist behind the record that encompasses a lot of what we like at Bolting Bits: flavours of house, disco, techno and interesting blends of samples and original instrumentation.

The "Deep Fried Banana" EP is a five-tracker featuring a remix from The Last Trip To Gandahar, whose work we’ve premiered before. There isn’t a track we wouldn’t buy on this record, but our premiere is the stand out for us. While the percussive elements cut in and out, dusty-sounding jazz piano samples and a looped acid synth-line staple this track almost all the way through. It’s one of those pieces of music that feel like every part is completely intentional – even the rough bits are supposed to be rough. Felipe Gordon has built an impressive resume for himself recently, with releases on London’s Quintessentials and Berlin’s Toy Tonics, and we’re happy we can play a part in getting the word out on this guy, because his future looks bright. Down the long driveway at the end of Second Avenue is a single story abode perched on a cliff overlooking the water. The timber constructed house built in the 1950s, is surrounded by native pohutukawa trees whose bright red coloured flowers are mimic'ed by the window frames and detailing of the exterior. As you walk down the narrow path along the side of the property, you can peer into the studio and catch a glance of an older man working away at his desk. Surrounded by books, records and CDs he will be drafting plans by hand for his next project. Continue along the path and reach the edge of the cliff — watch your step as you go down the decaying staircase and arrive at a small landing lapping in the waves of the harbour.  

This record is dedicated to my grandfather Jack and the house he built.
