Ghost

Searching was originally inspired by a track from the original score for the Netflix’s series Maniac, composed by Dan Romer. As such, the flute intro is almost directly linked with the version of it within the soundtrack, as a homage to the well created and atmospheric score. As I progressed with the piece, I delved further into the inspiration of video games, and the atmosphere created with the games. Searching represents more than just a search for an item, person, or place – it reflects the not yet attainable, the journey and the emotion of searching for everything we desire. 

The one consistent in the piece is the incessant percussion track – representing the tick of The Clock, and how time continues on as we search for all that we seek, both as a reminder and a warning of how little time we are given on Earth; that all we search for should be worth it.
Musical pedal was important for me to use in this piece as shows how the journey to what we want can be long and enduring, with no tangible end in sight. I reserve the horn section and violins until the crescendo-ing finale, in order to heighten the tension and drama of the ending. This also gives the piece a cinematic, epic ending, before returning to the ticking of The Clock.

Searching - Life Is But A Game

Sweep: Reimagined is a re-orchestration of a piece that I completed over a year ago. As one of my very first commissions, created very shortly after my purchase of virtual sound libraries, the original Sweep score represented a unrefined edition of a potentially more elaborate and luscious score. This re-orchestration reflects the original ideas I had in my head more accurately, and speaks comparatively to my more nuanced and knowledgeable approach to digital score creation that I've gained in the last year and a half. With the addition of the celeste, a better blend between instruments as the result of more idiosyncratic lines, and a deeper understanding of digital mixing, I'm much more proud of this score than I once was. Although I definitely still have further to go in my score creation abilities, this was a definitively enriching and reflective project.

Sweep: Reimagined

Five Bangkok slum children are saved from poverty, disease and abuse by art and the dedicated care of a maverick priest. Father Joe Maier moved to Klong Toey 45 years ago to help the poor and sick. He has guided thousands of children like Note, Keng and the triplets Fon, Fa and Fai from extremely difficult childhoods to content, constructive lives, often using art as a way of releasing positive energies.
