"Medium Rare," featuring "Marinara" Mike Joncas on drums and piano, was recorded in a six-hour session (and mixed in another six-hour session) at Subcat Studios in August 2015. Originally intending for it to be used as a demo CD, but accidentally turning it into a CD-printing-and-selling operation that nearly put record stores around the globe out of business, songwriter/singer/guitarist/bassist Kyle Micho said the name of the famous record came from the fact that the album "was not quite well done."

The enigmatic duo of Micho and Joncas reportedly got together in the studio one more time to record a "breakthrough EP" in the winter of 2016, but by all accounts the project was aborted when the two musicians realized they had forgotten where they put their instruments. Plans to tour the globe in 2017 were scrapped shortly thereafter due to an inability to book major arenas.
