Kym Simon is a feisty Alberta firebrand who has a personality as vast as the prairies and musical potential as high as the Rocky Mountains.
 
A dynamo onstage and off, she has a powerhouse voice, a natural and easy charm, and a delightfully cheeky wit. With years of experience under her belt, Kym has evolved into a singing and song-writing sensation -- spearheading the creative charge by writing or co-writing all five tracks from her forthcoming EP, Mirror, which is set to be released in on January 29, 2016.
 
Mirror follows on the heels of If You Stole My Heart, released in 2000, and 2007’s Priority, both of which were recorded in Nashville. For this latest release, Kym chose to work closer to home, laying down tracks at Calgary’s MCC Recording Studios under the watchful eye of veteran producer Johnny Gasparic (Gord Bamford, George Canyon, Clayton Bellamy).
 
“We have the same energy level and we both love to talk, so the communication and vibe in the studio was amazing. And, the biggest thing was he let me be creative; he wasn’t running roughshod over the sessions. He was patient and let me do my thing and then went back over the material to try and make it better. It was the best experience I have had in a studio,” says Kym.

“You Got This,” comes three years after the release of her 2016 EP, Mirror, and is highly anticipated by peers. The single was recorded at Sound Extractor Studios in Edmonton, Alberta on a grant from FACTOR (The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings) under the skilled hand of Stew Kirkwood. Accompanying Kirkwood, who, along with producing the track, also played many of the instruments, Simon wrangled in Chad Melchert for percussion and Travis Switzer on bass. Though her team be but small, they be mighty. “You Got This” was written by the animated songstress and encompasses everything she wishes to tell those suffering through hard times. “It could go anywhere. I love the fact that it can go quite heavily into mental health and wellness, but I love that it could also be an athlete or a mother’s theme song.”

I think after the year we had, it’s time for a party/anthem song for women who juggle careers and family while keeping everything together through the good times and bad. Even as we age, we need to know we can have always keep having fun and still have some crazy, let loose, kind of nights!

Kym Simon's new single “Ladies Night Out”, co-written with Alicia Plosz, has a total “feel good” vibe that all ladies can relate to and will make them want to get up and dance! Did someone say “female Brad Paisley” song?  It’s definitely time for a party/anthem tune for women who juggle careers and family, while keeping everything together through the good times and bad. Even as we age, we need to know we can “let our hair down” and still have some crazy, let loose kind of nights (with no cover charge)!  

Kym has three successful albums to date (“Mirror”, “Priority”, and “If You Stole My Heart”) followed by three singles (“Lonely Together”, “You Got This” and “Heroes”).   
“Ladies Night Out”, released on January 15th, 2021, follows her last single, “Lonely Together”, which was released October 2, 2020.   Both singles were produced by CCMA Hall of Honour Inductee Travis Switzer (Dallas Smith & Megan Patrick) and mixed by Juno© and CCMA© Award winner, Bart McKay.   

Some of Canada’s top musicians contributed to these songs. Darren Savard (Electric Guitar), Mitch Jay (Steel Guitar/Dobro), Mathew Atkins (Drums), Chad Melchert (Drums), Kris Ulrich (Acoustic Guitar/BV’s), Ryan Davidson (Electric Guitar), and Robin Pelletier (Acoustic Guitar), to name a few.  
With this new single being recorded during Covid-19 quarantine times, it’s amazing how all of these talented people came together virtually (no an easy task), to make this song a reality. The hub of the recording started in St. Albert, AB and spread across Canada to musicians from coast to coast, sending tracks back and forth.  It all came together with the final product being more than Kym could have anticipated.

Kym has creatively found a way to realize two dreams despite Covid-19 lockdown measures. Kym’s dreamt of being a talk show host (like her idol Oprah Winfrey, whom she met in 2013).  She also wanted to expand her fanbase beyond the Canadian borders.
Every Monday at 7:30pm MST she brings both dreams to life with “Kym’s Korner" on Facebook, now having over 40 episodes!
She’s been steadily growing her viewers and currently gets tens of thousands of views worldwide. With different themes, customized set lists, the odd celebrity special guest, and raising money for charity, each week is unique and entertaining!

Kym is also President of Red 19 Entertainment, an independent record label offering artists services such as digital distribution, online marketing, and mentorship.  Red 19 is also an event planning company and booking agent that has hosted Epcor’s Riverfest, The Edmonton Garrison Canada Day Celebrations, and major concerts featuring celebrity acts such as George Canyon, Doc Walker, and Charlie Major.

Songbirds, a music school for all ages, is a division of Red 19 Entertainment.  Students have hit many performing milestones.  Songbirds have been selected to participate locally at events such Edmonton K-Days Competition and Big Valley Jamboree Contests. Internationally, they’ve been on stage at Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Graceland in Memphis TN.
 
Kym Simon has definitely paved her own unique path in the Country Music scene as an award-winning Recording Artist and Singer/Songwriter.  She is also a dedicated music teacher and businesswoman.   Kym adores her husband and children and always loves spending time with her friends.  She is an avid walker and loves being around nature and all it’s beauty!
