As a DJ and promoter Rick Wilhite has been holding it down for over 20 years, and his 'Vibes - New & Rare music' record store has been a main source in Detroit for soulful electronic music until it's closure. The tracks selected for the 'Vibes New & Rare Music' compilation truly represent the artists, Wilhite says. After releasing Vibes 1 in 2010, he delivers the sequel, featuring pioneers and new talents alike from Detroit, Chicago and New York.

"Alfonsvs bring their 2016 to an end with a beautiful 3 track EP, on their own new imprint: Fluxus."

"44th Romance", is the track that gives the EP its name. It's a dark breakbeat cut, with a subtle use of the amen break sample, a strong bassline, and bass and techno music influences. The lyrics in the middle are related to the inevitability of the arrival of a new loved one.

"Us" was done in conjunction with the dutch singer Eline van der Does, from a very well known touring dutch Jazz Band. The collaboration started with the singer's curiosity around the world of techno and house, when one of the Alfonsvs guys opened it a bit to her, and despite her complete lack of any techno knowledge, both came to realize the possibilities they had for a collaboration. This is not the last piece of work to come out between the two artists.

"There Was You" was a track that since the early beginning had the support of the italian duo Hiver. This is a dub techno track that opens itself up with the use of different reverbs, spacial delays and the use of some acoustic percussion, giving the EP's overall feeling a more dance floor focus.

Spanish label Night Shift welcome Belgian duo Chasse to drop some seriously classy dancefloor jams for those who really know how to move. "Pilot" is an effervescent cut that places musicality at the front of the mix, all nimble keys and live drum funk of the highest order. "Dig Him" is an uplifting disco workout that loops it up in all the right places, and "Oh Franck" pumps the rhythm section a little more to head towards the house heads. "In Your Stride" is an unabashed reworking of "Boogie Nights" that takes on a dreamy quality as it chops the original into a fresh configuration.
