Slippery When Wet (Deejay kyo Refix) 2

Born on June 20th 1991, Kyraan Gabourel was the only child to the union of Pauline & Gregory Gabourel. In primary school he excelled both academically as well athletically. It was not until 3rd form in high school that Kyo discovered he was blessed with the talent of spokenword element. He continued writing as hobby for the next couple of years until he became a member of Youth Voices Belize January 2011. It was here that Kyo fully developed his skills and stage presence becoming one of the group's outspoken poets. Under the guidance of Melanie "Nyahbinghi" Price, he was pushed beyond his limitation, even becoming one of group's facilitators by November 2011. In 2012, Kyo participated in various events around Belize City as well as a few shows in the other 5 districts of Belize. May 2012, Youth Voices Belize collaborated with artists Jenko Veli, Nello Player, Denise & Jackie Castillo in a strong youth tours known as the Black Guayabera Tour. Promotional shows were being done at high schools such as: E.P. Yorke, A.C.C. Wesley, & S.C.A. as well as universities like Saint John's Junior College & University of Belize. The tour lasted 3 months before concluding with the Black Guayabera Concert on September 1st 2012. In the 2nd half of 2013, Kyo along with Stephen Gabb, Denzel Wade, Elizardo Novelo, Micah Goodin & Raheem Phillips collaborated with the Image Factory Art Foundation and NGO known as REACH Belize (Research Education & Advocacy For Change) and began working on a book + DVD project, "We Gat Sonting Fu Seh". This was a way to encourage more male participation in positive activities around Belize as well as highlighting social issues that young males are currently. The Book + DVD was launched on December 18th 2013 with a huge turnout and positive reviews from those in attendance. Currently, Kyo is apart of another group, Drums Not Guns- Belize City where he is learning to play drums taking spokenword to Dub Poetry realm. Look out for more from this Belizean Youth!!!
