Felt good getting this off my chest.....

Was on my way to bed when a melody appeared in my head, so I went downstairs, turned on my computer and decided to wreck my sleep rythm. 4 hours later (4:20am), I was going to store it on my computer for endless rumination and future tinkering, where 80% of my tracks go into hibernation, but this time I thought why not just upload the damn thing as it is.

I will now explain the intricate lore behind this photo. I was having three friends over for pad thai, and it was the first time I was going to have friends over for dinner in my new apartment. I had made pad thai a month before and had half a bottle of pad thai sauce and half a pack of shoelace noodles I had bought from the asia mart across the train station. You know the one, the one with the calendars with Indian deities on the wall by the counter.

I dont like wasting food, but I end up hoarding stock food items only to find them years later when they're expired. So it would be so satisfying if that half a noodle pack and sauce turned out to be the perfect amount for four people. But I chickened out and bought extra noodles at the super market.

are you still reading? its another stupid anecdote. The story is not going to improve from here on out. anyway I had been keeping a melon on my counter for like well over a month. It was neatly wrapped in plastic like you would see in a asian supermarket, so I figured that had increased its longivity, because it didn't look like it had started to rot at all. I was just always too lazy to prepare the thing, but figured tonights the night. So i slice the badboy in half, and was left speechless. The melon that had been hanging out in the kitchen turned out to be a giant grapefruit. My sister asked me if I didn't know what a pomelo was. She offered to show me how to prepare it, bacause it could be finicky to get the fruity parts out. It was like a mummified dry citrus fruit, that had most of its moisture driven out of it to preserve it. I dont like grapefruit at all, but this I really liked. It was like a tolerable grapefruit. I had a bowl of it left the day after, an was snacking on it daily for a week after. And it turned out all the ingredients I added to the pad thai, made it so there was enough for four people (scrambled eggs, chicken, bell pebber, beansprouts, no extra noodles), and there was even a portion left I could reheat for dinner the next day. And so I went and grabbed my emergency noodles. But when i picked them up, they had turned into a big blob of dry noodles, and so I ended up throwing them in the trash, and I couldn't believe it, they fit perfectly into the carved out pomelo shell. I knew right there and then, I had to comemorate that moment with a song.

Wonder if people will like this. It's a fairly straightforward d&b track, but it has like a 1000 bass kicks a minute, so maybe its too annoying.

started in the afternoon yesterday finished this evening. something about the sounds i used gave me mad ear fatigue today. I think I might have buffed my tinitus.

i ended up using sounds i havent used for a long time, but i used to use all the time. when i began trying to make music, i found a free sound pack from baauer (the harlem shake guy), that had a lot of field samples from exocitic places, camel groans, sitars and a oneshot note of somerhing called a tulum which i used for the atmospheric voice sounding synth.

i love Gorillaz with my whole heart. I thought the last part sounded Gorillaish, so i went all in on that style as a tribute. Came home from my cousins birthdayparty at 1 am and felt inspired to make something. Its now 7:32 am and I ended up fucking up my inner clock again.

every day i melt a little more

a track i made while in corona lockdown in 2020 but i kept set as private because i didnt like the mix. was scrolling down my list and found this again and thought it would be fun to release it almost exactly as it was (i retouched it a bit just now, to make it a little less disorganized, but it is still very much disorganized). I was living with a roommate at the time who smoked a lot of weed. i dont smoke but sometimes i felt like the smoke was seeping in through my door and i think what i made during that lockdown couped up in that apartment was some of the weirdest stuff i ever made lol.

Final Fantasy 10 is my favourite in the series. I always loved walking around the beach with this spanish guitar piece in the background. I havent heard it for years, but when i went to snag the sample i actually started sobbing lol. And i wasnt alone in the room at the time so i put up my hand to my tension like i was in deep concentration but really it was to shield my eyes :sob:

I have been interested in the concept of ironic samples for some time now. the "ugly" meme sounds that should be total no go. but in recent years i heard some musicians incorporate these sounds into their music. The first time i noticed it was when Mura Masa used sounds that sound like they where sampled from a Roadrunner cartoon on his song Blessing Me. Then 100 gecs sent out The most wanted person in the United States, with the iconic boing sound, that sound like an arrow hitting a tree.

I hope I don't come off as insincere and forced when I'm leaving a comment on someones song here on soundcloud. I decided that if there's any thought that pops into my head when I'm listening, why not get that in writing, and make someones day a tiny bit better. It doesn't have to take more than 20 seconds.

when I'm listening to music here, I try to make a point of leaving a comment. I know it makes me happy whenever somebody leaves one on my stuff. Just seeing that small orange dot on the bell icon is enough to give me a tiny serotonin spike. So that's why I feel that leaving comments on other creators work, is like shooting tiny darts of serotonin across the globe

i suddenly got a <3 from duncedog and saw he had been liking a lot of stuff in  a short amount of time. then as i went to look at his page saw he had renamed perc to huh?, with a beautiful photo of a spring onion on the ground. then he changed it to a cd with kanji on it. then i began spamming refresh with my thumb to get a live update on what he was up to. he played around with some different names and title for the track. the last one was a tnt on the ground. thought it might be a way of promoting new tracks coming. then when i want back to check later the page was deleted. the dunce is no more. i hope he comes back in some form on some platform

tried something i have been wanted to do for a long time, which is recording live guitar for a tune, so that's me playing on my old fender practice amp because its the only one i have at the moment

played on a old guitar i bought on a second hand instruments market last year, i started by playing around with it because it was a long time since i ha d been playing, but when i finally decided to record the melodies i needed, something happened with the input on the guitar

first thought it was bad jackstick cable or the pedal so i tried everyone i had. same problem - white noise coming out of amp. but in the end i ended up sampling a lot of the bad reception sounds, so that's actually me audibly sighing at the end of the track as i pull out the cable in frustration

i also sampled me hitting glasses of water with a teaspoon and flicking a rubber band for asmr sounds in the intro

the first part is meant as a gift for my niece, sort of like a lullaby, then it took off in a different direction for the second half lol
