LIGHTS OUT represents the newest collaborative effort by two titans of dark drum & bass, L 33 & MC COPPA. Building upon their wide history of collaboration on the Eatbrain label and beyond, MC COPPA & L 33 now launch LIGHTS OUT with a focus on furthering their already impressive sonic history as they champion the legacy combination of DJ & MC atop a barrage of blistering and tech-heavy Drum & Bass. L 33’s history within the Drum & Bass scene has been one focused on similar such large scale concepts.Well known for his intricate sonic creations within the harder and darker styles of drum & bass, his tracks have appeared on labels such as Eatbrain, Program, and BLACKOUT as well as on the Drum & Bass Arena compilation series, marking him as a dynamic representative of tech focused Drum & Bass within the wider DnB genre. His DJ sets carry with them a similar pedigree, with routine performances as a part of the Eatbrain League across global stages and festivals such as Let It Roll.
 
 Indeed, it was during the first Eatbrain Takeover at Let It Roll 2015 that L 33 first met his partner in LIGHTS OUT, MC COPPA. Standing as one of the most prominent MC figures within a broad slice of the Drum & Bass world, MC COPPA has long had a knack for crafting lyrical flows atop the riotous sonic patterns that the genre presents. He shares with L 33 a long history as a part of the Eatbrain League, and has collaborated with a vast array of artists across a wide range of labels such as Eatbrain, Playaz, Viper Recordings, and Technique Recordings, with his debut LP Poetry in Motion releasing on Audioporn Recordings in March of 2018.
 
Driven by a shared set of sonic experiences, the combination of MC COPPA & L 33 in LIGHTS OUT seeks to continue in the spirit of their numerous previous collabs. In addition, LIGHTS OUT provides the pair with a unified and focused platform upon which to combine their unique energies and strengths, from which they are set to become an even more potent force as a DJ/MC duo within the realm of tech focused neurofunk Drum & Bass.

Hibernating against an already impressively tight discography,
Program has been biding its time in unleashing this next release.
With some of the genre’s most technically adept artists, the track-
listing alone is enough to grab your attention. There is a high
calibre of production standard present throughout the LP, audible
from start to finish.
Whether you become submerged by Freek’s rolling ‘Enamoured’,
accompanied by the pristine vocals of Pia Thaleia, or captured by
the apocalyptic sounds of Slang Banger’s ‘Slaughter House’, every
taste is catered for. Program sets aside its older sister label Ram and creates a breathing space, allowing it
to grow. The label is a heavyweight in its own right; this album is only reaffirms that fact.
And such a range of versatility comes with names both old and new. L 33 returns to the imprint, with
clashing bass conundrum ‘Manipulate’. Gerra & Stone also make an anticipated reappearance; their
contribution ‘Po’rdosol’ is a steppy riddim constructed through a medley of beats and sliced up sample.
But relative newcomer Elliott Mac uses the LP as a pedestal for another stellar production. The budding
artist flexes his capabilities across the soundscape of ‘Filter City’, delicately composed yet highly intricate.
It’s demonstrative of Program’s dedication to emerging artists, sifting through cyberspace to showcase some
of the best acts the underground has to offer.
So now it’s time to prepare your subs and plug in your speakers – Program have made a welcome return,
further solidifying their position as leading tastemakers with a quality ensured guarantee. It’s once again,
time to get with the Program!

Announced by the trend setting platform UKF, Lights Out has become a hotly tipped collaborative project which sees two of the most heavyweight figures in the drum & bass world’s darkest corners join forces for a ground-breaking merging of talents. Known through his pivotal part in Eatbrain’s super-league, the Bulgarian stalwart L 33 has received pride of place amongst many of the scene’s biggest platforms, including Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 6’ and Drum & Bass Arena compilations as well as Ram Record’s sub imprint Program.

MC Coppa is the other half of the Lights Out syndicate and since his Coppa Live touring circuit, he’s become the notable face for many Eatbrain nights globally, showcasing his lyrical prowess and stage presence on huge festival stages. The announcement that MC Coppa and L 33 are merging their talents has set anticipation for their first release; ‘Sorcery!’ and ‘S.E.A.L.S’ are the first look into what they have forthcoming throughout 2019 and beyond, with both representing a formidable launch pad. 

The single’s A-side ‘Sorcery!’ certainly sets the tone and it creates a landscape which drags you into its snapping claws, leaving you no time to escape. The cut-throat bassline striking through the heart of this track is typical of the L33 sound, one which he has become renowned for and a signature which has earned him a staggering audience. Coppa adds his crooning vocals into the mix and as a result, you’re made aware of their harmonious co-operative might. 

The reverse features ‘S.E.A.L.S’, this time taking you down a route which sees L33 flip the switch and deliver a more half-time motion, gearing you up for a second drop after the first catapults you into its first raucous breakdown. Once again L 33 gives a masterclass in production, pedalling his encompassing atmospherics which draw in Coppa’s punchy vocals. Coppa and L 33 go straight for the jugular although this can only be expected from a pair who each have their own formidable place within the drum & bass scene. They are continuing this assault throughout 2019, with ‘Sorcery!’ and ‘S.E.A.L.S’ being the beginning of a journey which will see them become a definitive force yet again within the neurofunk subgenre.
