As I’m lying here in bed, thoughts of you roll though my head, and sweet music fills my mind.  I let my feelings go, and the teardrops start to flow, with my heartbeat keeping time.   On the nightstand there’s a pen so I’m writing once again, and the words all seem to rhyme.

Words inspired by you and God’s sweet spirit too.

I’d do anything to just forget about you. Almost anything, but what am I supposed to do?
Because when I pray He says hold on with a voice that’s sweet and strong.
So here I go again…

When the band was formed and played the first tracks I’d cut and laid, it really sounded strange.  But my mind was so distraught by the havoc love had wrought; it was all I could arrange. Then a lawyer heard us roast, sent a demo to the coast, and some big boys heard me sing. They were curious about the girl who’d confined me to this world; guess they liked my broken wings.

Heavy offers were made. The biggest was for millions, all prepaid.
                                                                                                                                                                      I’d do anything to win your love back again; almost anything - with only minor amends.
Except assault you with small talk, fast food, booze, bars or punch a clock; like all those other men.

As this life keeps flying by, I still think of you and sigh, as I board another plane.
My producer’s booked a show, it’s in Europe wouldn’t you know.  Seems they like this stuff in Spain. At the airports now there’s crowds, I prefer it in the clouds where the world is just a view. There’s reporters on the ground, every time they come around, they ask questions about you.

But they never get far: I won’t tell them who you are.

I sent some sad songs shopping for a record deal to tinsel town U.S.A.
As most souls pass when confronted with class, I knew I’d probably have to hustle and pray. 

A ringing phone meant I wasn't alone as the distance disappeared with a sigh.
The voice at the end said, “Your songs have found a friend. There’s heart here a label might buy.”

Then she said the sweetest something, “I love ya’ babe, but promise one thing...
Don’t stay here or you’ll end up stuck here, they’ll call it art if it turns a buck here.  
                                                                                                                                          
“So keep your cool and count your fortune, but leave behind a lover’s portion as you travel to the stars. 
Some wonder why fool’s gold gets struck here but blessings count for less than luck here...
This freeway’s jammed with foolish plans as well as fancy cars.”

I just talked to an angel on the phone, and I can’t keep from wonderingwhere an angel makes its home.

And I’m bound to play L.A., by the way... I’m just not sure when we land…

A horrific event occurred in 1995 when the Frederick R. Murrah building in Oklahoma City was bombed. To this day it is shrouded in mystery, particularly since President William J. Clinton had the largest crime scene in U.S. history at the time obliterated on the 30th day after the attack before anyone could forensically verify that the massive  tri-girder beams had been snapped by C4 explosives.  Strange things have been happening in this country - particularly since the assassination of President Kennedy. Ever notice?

Anyway I wrote and recorded this song in on the very day of the tragedy – and later had it  mastered by my friend Bernie Grundman himself – with me ridin’ shotgun.
