Having already geared up for the release of their long-awaited third studio album later this year, electronic outfit Ishi have now returned to unveil the new Oliver Nelson remix for their latest captivating single ‘Lo-fi Love Affair’.

Producer Oliver Nelson may be from Sweden and has released music and remixes on various power houses in the EDM world, but he’s far from the kind of bottle-servicey house music mafioso that those things might imply. He’s got a taste for vintage disco and a subtle sensibility that have helped him rework tracks by Tove Lo, Justin Timberlake, Marina and the Diamonds and even Whitney Houston into rubbery electronic funk that avoid the full-blast sensory overload that a lot of pop-oriented dance music falls into. He has also collaborated with the likes of Kygo, Todd Terry, Zayn, The Kooks and many more, delivering a wildly eclectic array of offerings throughout his career.

Ishi is a high energy electronic band from Dallas, TX with influences of soul, funk, and folk to electro, techno and house. They thrive on creating a positive atmosphere that allows their audience to let loose & express themselves.

Fans have been waiting eight long years for the next album and is expected to drop in Autumn 2021 under Swedish Indie Label Icons Creating Evil Art, the home of Flora Cash, Summer Heart, and Glamour Hammer. It will be titled ‘Sweet Gold’ and feature the hit singles ‘Not My Girl’ and ‘Lo-Fi Love Affair’. This record can only be described as an infusion of funk and soul with a touch of electronic production. A true journey in time through music and some of the greatest musicians in the world.

Ishi’s ability to successfully walk the line between an ambitious studio act and a multi-sensory live experience allows them to engage their audiences in an uplifting celebration of life. Their subtle undertones of inner-exploration combine to create a concert experience that is unequivocally one-of-a-kind. Following the successful release of the Yuksek remix of 'Not My Girl' (supported by the likes of A-Trak, Kiss FM, Ministry of Sound, Amazing Radio etc.) Ishi now release the Oliver Nelson’s remix of ‘Lo-fi Love Affair’ on the 14th May via Icons Creating Evil Art.

Hilo (pron. hē-lō) is a soundtrack of transformation, of leaving who one is in order to become who one needs to be.

In 2014, my life was turned upside down when I learned I had been adopted. Everything I thought I knew about my origin was untrue, a fabrication. As an artist, I began to produce music that became an audio description of my life during this experience, from thoughts and feelings of levity and absurdity, to despair and prolapse. All the elevated emotions are documented here.

To make sense of this surprise life turn and thrive, I had to face the experience of dying while being alive, becoming reborn while trying to hold dearly to whom I'd been. All the while, I gave the experiences within my head a voice through music.

Hilo is named for the town and airport on the island of Hawaii where I first landed to meet my birth father's family. All of the tracks here were begun and edited on airplanes and trains, fitting the transformational aspects of this journey.

Art is identity. I couldn't release this album without giving the listener context for it. What you hear is the inner dialogue of adventure, illumination, anxiety, and facing a terrifying yet ultimately beautiful unknown. 

This is my story, but it is also a narrative--as old as Greek mythology--of anyone or group who has faced crisis and survived, emerging galvanized and more spiritually complete.

Allow me to take you on a ride.

MARLON PERCY & LOFRAMES  ‘THE PAIN I FEEL’

‘The Pain I Feel’ is the new single from British singer Marlon Percy and Anglo-French duo Loframes. A haunting, disco-house track that sees Percy channel his recent struggles to create a viscerally emotional song as Loframes rise to the challenge of creating a setting for the track that both complements the narrative and, importantly, gets you up and dancing. 
 
"I wrote this song when I was experiencing both emotional and physical pain at the same time,” explains Marlon. “Writing it was a way to express my current situation and was also a distraction from the harsh realities of life. When I sing this song it takes me to a place of higher realisation, almost meditation, and reminds me that sometimes we must feel pain in order to feel pleasure."
 
“When Marlon sent us ‘The Pain I Feel’ it was already so personal and full of meaning that we really wanted to give Marlon’s vocals the setting they deserved,” says Loframes’ Franck Russo. “The lyrics were already so powerful and strong, we knew they meant something for Marlon so it was important to do them justice. Just as importantly this collaboration created a strong, new friendship and a spur to future projects we can't wait to share."
 
London based Marlon Percy is a singer-songwriter and producer with his own unique style of electronic music that blends jazzy keys, soulful vocals and chilled house vibes. His debut EP ‘The Little Things’ received praise across the board from Clash Magazine to Jazz Standard and saw him supported by the likes of BBC Radio 1xtra, BBC Introducing, Seen Music, FM Fame and SBTV.
 
Since making their debut with the self-released single ‘Get Real (Can’t Touch Your Love)’, Anglo-French duo Loframes (London based musician James Yuill & Antibes producer Franck Russo) have firmly established themselves as ones to watch. Their stylish mix of synth-pop, deep house and nu-disco has won them a legion of fans amongst both DJs, public and press and led to a series of acclaimed remixes for the likes of Erasure, M83, Miami Horror and Keep Shelly In Athens amongst many others.
