Never In One Peace (w/ Curious Absurdities)

Learnt a lot about layering and attention to detail.  I used a couple of field recordings I went around recording. Samir told me to make something related to a Bucket List, so I made this.  The tune for this was inspired by the sweet sounds of distorted guitars and the drums, inspired by The Glitch Mob &amp; Amon Tobin. ( Don't compare me to them though lol)

Use good headphones! A lot of the flow is in the subs.

Before I Capsize

Inspired by this random guy I met who did this weird movement with his hands when he was talking about good music. Also, inspired by psychedelic and post-rock. 

Spent a lot of time on taming the distortion which I used on practically everything. I tried experimenting with stereo'ing a lot in this song to try and give a forward movement, as though you're walking into/ out of the audio jungle.

Here's something different yet again. 
This one's for Christmas, for the feel good and for all the love we've ever received. My personal request to everyone is to tone down on materialism and let Christmas be about giving. Let Christmas be about simple, carefree joy.
My experiment with Granular synthesis proved to be very interesting so I took it a level further. 
I hope with the song, I'm able to make you feel the picture that serves as the track cover. It was taken by my art teacher/ most-inspiring-person-I'm-blessed-to-have-met, Mr.Noor A.S. Oscar.
Also, I hope you feel the urge to dance. I sat for hours on the swing of the track.

Dancing In a Field Of Flowers

First track of 2012! A belated Happy New Years to everyone out here and apologies for the 3 week break. I had college apps and stuff to do... (annoying) 

The storyline of this track is pretty random but it's based on a very strong memory and feeling of mine. Sorry if it doesn't make sense to you. The idea behind it is that every individual element/ sound is looped into a separate groove and I spent almost a week placing the sounds into different parts of the stereo realm. The melodies are again based on my memory, hope that oriental sound works for you.

Hope you enjoy the new samples I procured over the past 3 weeks. Absolutely loved messing with them!

The Uncommon Spirit ft. Praful Mathur (w/ part-by-part description)

First song I needed a calculator to make. Sorta made this song to celebrate my new alienware laptop ;) and to vent exam stress. 

The beat in this is based on a weird dream of mine where I was falling from the top of a skyscraper and wasn't waking up somehow. Sometime while falling I realized I was dreaming and didn't have to be scared so I had an enchanting free fall experience... for free. hahahaha

1st try with the on the spot jamming. We simply picked the theme and let the feeling flow. Lots of glitches and the sound quality is attributed to a cell phone trying its hardest to pick up everything. Did minimal EQing/ compression work but I wanted the raw feel.

Blood Red Skies

Looks like I can play the guitar after all! 
Well, I have my boards and stuff coming up and I'm unable to find lasting inspiration to work on more elaborate things. So I decided that whenever I'm feeling something I'm just gonna do short rough things, just to keep you guys entertained and me relaxed. 

Also, Shadows in the Sky is still coming up soon.

If Only I Could Keep...

Except for the melody and a sample here and there, all the sounds are recordings of things around me - sounds I've collected over the past year or so. Of course I fucked them up real good to suit my liking ;) Who says nature and machine can't get along? 

The idea I'm trying to portray here is the action of allowing yourself to let go and fall, comfortably. Maybe it's trust, maybe it's giving up, maybe it's escape or maybe it's love. That's for you to figure out. For me, it's simply allowing emotions to control you and guide you..

Interpreting Letting Go

I was experimenting with getting my drums and instruments to sound full and the song just formed this song; thinking melody upon melody. 
Not my usual kinda fuckery but quite a fuckery in its own way.
Also this is kinda inspired by deadmau5. Not "Ghosts N Stuff" n stuff but stuff like Rhys Lament n ghosts from his past n stuff. 
It's free download but I don't think you'll download it cuz it's 86MB to download but if anyone wants to use it in a mix you can download it and use it in the mix. 

I'm totally not messing with you by repeating random things like the title that contains random repeated words.

Frickin' Petals

Inspired by my 7 day trip to Goa, this song is heavily influenced by the concept of light and darkness and their coexistence - the yin and yang. 
The structure of this song depicts a body venturing into the darker side or exiting all comfort zones. The turbulence caused by the unfamiliarity is something to brave out and confront as it is self-confidence and absolute pride in who you are that allows you thrive in whatever world you're put in. 
As the song transcends into the ambient section, I try depict a sense of comfort. The "peace" in this section comes from the fact that our hero is now at peace with the darkness/ unfamiliarity; taking life as it comes, scared of no one and nothing. Every person needs to realize that one is truly himself/ herself when he or she has nothing to rely on but themselves (non materialistic). Your limbs, your senses, your body, soul and mind. These are all you need, these will keep you safe and strong. 
Speaking of strong, here comes the section 3.40 (at 3 min 40 secs) as I like to call it. Recapping, you've conquered a dangerous place and mastered yourself. As a personal trait, I like to celebrate when I have the chance because, nothing lasts forever and life's beauty exists in death. Death drives you to live to your fullest. Forget modesty, forget about all the people that might call you egotistic or self-centered. You are amazing, you are beautiful, you are completely aware of what you can and can't do. Accept yourself. 
After the 3.40 section, I switched the count back to sixths (only section 3.40 is in fourths) and sort of rewind as to what happened through the entire song. Every journey has its own meaning and the meanings you find by yourself slowly ingrain themselves inside you to make you, a better you. Similarly every person you meet and come to love will find their place in who you are. Realize here that the world need not be so linear where every single man must follow what society expects of them and what society labels as right and wrong. Every kind of law or code or quote (fuck quotes) that exists out there is like the starting point, including religion. It is up to you and who you are to push further and to learn and see for yourself. Think of your lifespan as a sort of tourist trip. You read about how nice a place is but you won't actually realize how beautiful it can be unless you're there yourself. 

I can't fully explain why I called it "Finding Me in You and I" but I hope you can decipher/ interpret through the limited description I have given above :)

Finding Me in You and I [Remastered]

I don't where to start or how to put in words the description of this track since I've been working on this for almost a month; realizing, remaking and evolving it as my understanding of the concepts got deeper.

The basic idea behind the making of this track is synchronization and connection (between you and people or you and your self). My original idea came from a very personal learning/ realization. The various elements such as glitches, granulization or ambiance quite literally depict the vibes I get from my little group of friends. I think it is very important that people realize the potential depth of connection attainable with a person, oneself or a place even. So in a way, I'm celebrating our little brotherhood and all the bullshit we did here in Bangalore the past two months or so, mrL1ght style.

The Thinker and The Observer (album foreshadow)

This is a collection of the different organs that make a song put together to back an advertisement of a prioritized organ transplant and donation foundation in India called "Mohan Foundation".  http://www.mohanfoundation.org/index.asp 
I kinda jumped into this project cuz a bit of awareness about organizations like this can really go a long way! What they do is basically take organ donations from various people and if someone is in need of an organ they don't have a long waiting list like the government's organ foundation. They give organs based on need, humanizing the system and saving loads of lives! 

I will be using these organs to create a separate track for my upcoming EP. I hope this touches your heart and you get the feeling I'm trying to impart because the hardest thing to do is to give and not expect any reward. Our ability to do that distinguishes us as people.

mrL1ght is not just an alias, but a philosophy; a way of life fashioned out of learning from and living the music we love so damn much.

My concept in a sentence - to be as humble and precise as tones and melody, as energetic and in the moment as rhythm, as passionate and intriguing as noise and, lastly, as accepting and strong as silence.

The songs to the right of this box are much like pages of an aural diary - recordings of the energies in my body, the flow of thought in my mind and the feelings/ coloured flames in my soul - all sampled out of radically different periods in my life.

My only request to you, my listeners, is that you keep an open mind about catergorizations such as genre. Such things tend to constrict creative outflow so I don't try to give a fuck too much about it.

That's about my music. About gear: I own an Alienware M14x, a kickass Sony MDR serie headphones, a M-Audio MIDI controller (Key Rig 49) and I primarly use FL Studio (it's as good and as bad as any software ;). As you can see, I don't have too much hardware as of now which really slows my rate of production...

Lastly, if you've reading this far down, I thank you with all my being. Although this venture is purely personal, I will not pretend that your listens, favouriting and downloads don't matter.
