For those who are wondering, this is cover of Japanese Rock Band COOL DRIVE's 2001 song "New Morning", which was originally featured in their 2001 album "Spinning drive!" This was produced by Brazilian-influenced British group Da Lata and features Guida de Palma on vocals. The original version was also remixed by Kei Kobayashi, which is known as the "Routine Jazz Mix".  NOTE: COOL DRIVE was previously known as COOL DRIVE MAKERS from 1996 to 2003.

I've always been a huge fan of Jazz music. Especially the works from labels like Blue Note, Prestige, Strata East, Kudu, and CTI. I think it's pretty safe to say most of us music lovers dig that stuff! There's just something about the complex patterns of rhythm that are intermingled together that always has seemed superior to other genres (in my opinion). Here's a mix I put together of some of my favorite Jazz songs. On this mix I wanted to leave most of the tracks unedited, and showcase them in their natural raw form. The way it was meant to sound! Meant for funky tea parties and long walks on the beach. Enjoy!

BeatPete - Illest Villains - The Madvillain Mixtape - Vinyl Mix

This month Carhartt WIP Radio features a musical journey by producer, DJ and Akashik Records co-founder Ringgo Ancheta, aka Mndsgn. Raised with Gospel music at church and B-Boy culture at home in south New Jersey, he began experimenting with beat making when he was 14, before befriending fellow producer Knxwledge. The two would eventually go on to form the influential Klipmode collective.

After moving to Los Angeles, Mndsgn's music flourished, catching the attention of labels such Stones Throw and Leaving Records, who put out his albums Yawn Zen, Surface Outtakes and Body Wash. His latest project is titled Snax – a mixtape brimming with esoteric hip hop flavours and freshly cut Mndsgn remixes, and one which also serves as the debut release for his brand new label Ringgo.

About to embark upon a European tour – presented by Carhartt WIP – which will take him to Lisbon, Madrid, Cologne, Berlin, London, The Hague and Milan, we asked him to prepare a show that focuses on the releases of Akashik Records, the little DIY label he has run with his buddies Alima and Shane Sakanoi since 2015. The result is a unique, nonchalant mix of twisted contemporary electronics, driving funk, hot soul, agitating hip hop, and silky R&B.
