AK'S AND ROSES EP

ONE TAKE MANTRA

Along with the tape, I'm releasing a ten-minute visual edited by me, with graphics done by my brother Shinzo, on my youtube. This is the biggest creative project I’ve ever dropped, and it’s a real reflection of who I am as an artist.

This tape is about appreciation for women. Back in high school, I read A Rose That Grew from Concrete by Tupac, and the lessons in that book stayed with me for life. During a time in hip-hop when disrespecting women was the norm, Pac stood firm in his beliefs. He never backed down from fighting for what was right in the community, and he never forgot who he was.

Skating and music raised me. My goal with this tape is simple: I hope a little girl hears it and thinks, "Hip-hop is cool as hell—I wanna make music," or just feels seen and appreciated. Too often, we forget the prejudices and barriers women face just to be part of the culture—things men take for granted. This project is for them. This is for the baddies.

I don’t care if it gets zero views or if some people don’t like it. This is who I am. This is who I’ll always be. My integrity as a man means more than any money ever could. Music is therapy for so many of us. I'm just hoping y’all enjoy the project.
