Dorohedoro

GOODVANDAL depicts a cosmic entity much like you and I who has unexpectedly found themself alone in a vast vacuum. Following the obliteration of their home planet and after losing all familiar faces in the debris, our protagonist pervades the galaxies in search of meaning, discovering new planets and making new friends—and falling in love along the way.

As fate should have it, their heart is broken by someone they thought they could trust and there is nought the young traveler longs for anymore but SPACE…. In total alienation of the happenings of other life, GOODVANDAL laments in the shame and horror of endless solitude…. But finds there is actually much joy to be had in the shade.

"In fact," they remark jovially from within the purple, syrupy flames of a building engulfed in fire, "…this isn't so bad at all."

"Here's a song about the time our train fell off the track and plunged into the ravine. Everyone was screaming and craying as we fell through the air, everyone but me. I had nothing ot live for, nothing to lose. Until I remembered my old dog Jackson, my best friend who'd passed a few years back. I thought how he wouldn't want me to die like that, before I ever got to share my songs with the world. So I opened my mouth and started singing. This here's the song I sung."

Jackson, my brother and old friend passed on April 22nd, 2022. He was an orange dog with the tail of a fox and a reserved, wise temperament. I wrote a short story inspired by him which you can read here:
