House music icon, @djspen, delivers an illustrious, amped-up mix for number 172 in the LWE series.

Engulfed with a passion for music from the age of 13, the Baltimore-based DJ and producer has been on an expediential ride to becoming a staple of the electronic scene. Beginning his career hosting hip-hop radio shows, DJ Spen joined famed production collective Basement Boys in the early 90s, where he became known for his unique all-encompassing style of mixing. Later spearheading the creation of several labels, including the highly acclaimed Code Red Recordings, DJ Spen has continued to entice dance floors the world over with an unparalleled combination of funk, R&B and gospel-laced house music.

A deep and entrancing trip from one of the scene’s most prolific talents, @anii_music delivers number 173 in the LWE series.

Relocating from Poland to London at a young age, ANII’s brand of melodic and emotion-packed techno quickly caught the attention of many of the industry’s biggest names. A flurry of standout releases on Kompakt, Afterlife and Anjunadeep saw her become a staple on the European scene where she has supported the likes of Paul Kalkbrenner, Michael Mayer and KiNK. Now based in Lisbon, ANII runs her own imprint , ANIITIME, where she has just released her incredible 9th EP in the space of 2 years.

9 years and 199 mixes later, we have arrived at mix number 200 in the LWE series. 

You know we had to make it special so here is an hour of unfiltered gems from Archie Hamilton and Toman’s infamous B2B at The Steel Yard on Saturday April 23rd. Marking the London debut of Archie’s brand new concept ‘Frequency’, the venue was turned into an acoustic playground as the two maestro’s left it all on the dance floor.

Emerging UK talents, Elliot Schooling and Liam Palmer team up to deliver two hours of explosive grooves for number 202 in the LWE series.

Heads of the the touted @appetiteldn party collective, Elliot and Liam have been on an exponential rise over the last few years supporting the likes of The Martinez Brothers, Michael Bibi, ANOTR, Toman and Blackchild. Releasing a consistent wave of dancefloor-ready material on Phil Weeks' @robsoulrecordings as well as their own imprint, the two talents are the definitely ones to keep on your radar.

202 - LWE Mix  - Elliot Schooling B2B Liam Palmer

Dishing out a relentless serving of heavy hitting gems, Nusha delivers number 204 in the LWE series. 

Bucharest native, Nusha is quickly becoming a staple on the European circuit. Known for her rave-infused selections, she’s shared lineups with some of the industry’s biggest names including Adam Beyer, Sven Vath and ANNA to name a few. A prolific release schedule has seen Nusha rack up the streaming numbers with a string of dancefloor tested releases on Autektone, FE Chrome and Orange Records. An artist to keep an eye on over the coming years, she continues her rise with an hour of scintillating heat for the LWE mix series.

204 - LWE Mix - Nusha

Fresh off the release of his debut LP, ‘First Contact’, Luuk van Dijk’s fast ascent within the scene has been a joy to behold. The Amsterdam native has created a name for himself with his forays into lean, bouncy house gems, steadily adding to his DJ diary in the process. This has resulted in far-reaching demand for an artist at the top of his game, and we’re delighted to welcome him to the fold for the next edition of our mix series.

‘First Contact’ exhibits the full spectrum of van Dijk’s musical personality. Each track is rooted within house, but he tastefully plays with the format, resulting in a collection of tracks that glides from big, synth-driven efforts, aimed at the heart (‘Lightning Strike’ and ‘Knowing How To Love’, to heads down rollers, with pointillistic vocal samples sprinkled throughout (‘Master Plug’ and ‘Let The Bass Kick’). Of course, van Dijk also takes advantage of the long-form setting, stretching his production chops to downtempo, spaced-out electro and more in the process.

With the album, van Dijk has provided a mission statement, attesting to his proficiency behind the decks and in the studio. His mix for us only cements his position as one of the brightest talents about today, with 60 minutes of pristine, slinky house gems - including many of his own – seamlessly blended for maximum effect. LWE Mix 208: Luuk van Dijk

Hailing from Liverpool, Tre Reynolds grew up in a musical household drawing inspiration from his parents that translates into his love for house today.

He’s been tearing up the scene with shows across the UK alongside some of the biggest names in the industry as well as having tracks released on Realm and Deeperfect.

With a knack for groove and a sharp ear for melody, the rising star provides an hour of raw energy and immaculate taste featuring an assortment of house and minimal techno for the latest in our mix series.

LWE Mix 209: Tre Reynolds

Next up in the LWE mix series is Paige Tomlinson, Liverpool’s fast-rising DJ who has been turning heads in the scene after winning Defected’s Unsung Heroes of 2022. 

Her sound is heavily influenced by the 90s era and has quickly become known for her seamless and technical prowess within house, techno, electro, breakbeat.

With already a huge number of high-profile shows under her belt and plenty more in store, 2023 is undoubtedly Paige Tomlinson’s year.

Gregor Tresher turns to the darker, more hypnotic realm of his techno collection for the 212th edition of our mix series. 

A stalwart in the scene since the early 90s, Gregor Tresher has taken his ever-evolving sound around the world, landing on esteemed labels such as Drumcode, Cocoon and Ovum in the process. 

He continues to push his own boundaries within music, evidenced by this stellar mix. Deviating from his harder techno sound, Thresher takes us on an engrossing journey through his musical taste, resulting in a sublime trip down the rabbit hole.

LWE Mix 212 - Gregor Tresher

Phill de Janeiro steps up for entry 215 in our mix series, presenting an 80-minute insight into his musical world. 

Originally hailing from Brazil, the Modern Funktion boss favours house music that bounces and swings, tinged with the London influence of UKG and packed with soul. We welcomed him for the first time last October, as he supported Kerri Chandler alongside his fellow MF family. Providing the perfect vibe for the setting, we saw why Phill is hotly tipped within the London scene, already known for his dedication to the craft and quality output. 

2024 looks set to be a bumper year for both Phill and his imprint, with new records and showcases at The Cause on the way, alongside much more to be announced soon. Take a sneak peak into his formidable sound with this groove-focused, expertly mixed set.

We are excited to welcome rising Scottish talent Mha Iri to the LWE Mix Series, bringing an hour of high-octane techno with her for the occasion. 

Fresh from releases on Drumcode and gigs around the world, Mha Iri is really carving out her own lane with her presence behind the decks and in the studio.

Declan Knapp, the British DJ and producer has been making waves all over the country. With huge releases on Nervous records and recently Octagon Disks we cannot wait to see where he takes his sounds next. 

Growing up in and around music his whole life he started his journey through Drum and Bass. Moving through and developing his sound to combine elements of House and Techno, characterised by emotive, melodic modular synth work and dynamic builds. Knapp has performed across Europe and gained attention for his innovative club focused sound. 

Notable tracks include his remix of Groove Armada’s Superstylin’, released through Octagon Discs and Go out on Nervous records.

Scarlett O'Malley steps up for an hour of electro, house and tech-house. Known for her groove-laden, genre-spanning approach. Based in West London, the producer and DJ has spent years record collecting from all genres, eras and corners of the world. Her career has been defined by both versatility and a commitment to subculture and community, evident in her residencies, festival performances, and self-driven projects. Ahead of the 2nd chapter of Sphere at Magazine on February 22nd, we welcome Egyptian-born and Barcelona based DJ and Producer Raxon for the 128th instalment of our LWE Mix Series. Bypassing the career trajectory that is routine for many of his contemporaries, Raxon has built his success through his own brand of melodic rolling techno and perseverance. Pushing the envelope in the techno scene with what many may call an unconventional spectrum of sounds, Raxon's productions have been picked up by some of the most renowned labels out there, such as Ellum, Cocoon, Diynamic, and Kompakt.

Raxon's very own quirky soundscapes are prevalent throughout the mix, as effervescing textures, steezy percussions, and rolling basslines bubble in and out at the right times, once again proving why the Middle Eastern artist is considered a boundary-breaker and one not to miss at Sphere 002 on February 22nd.

For the 129th episode in our series we welcome next-to-blow Onyvaa, a DJ and Producer who has been making waves in recent times through her authentic, movement provoking sets across the globe and productions released via her imprint Passeport.

Her live performance at FOLD last October, as well as her set at Magazine a couple of weeks back, both opening for her mentor Richie Hawtin, were nothing short of spectacular and true testament to her incredible ability to weave multi-layered, self-recorded organic sounds with her signature no-frills approach to techno. In her latest mix for us, delivering a four to the floor techno masterclass, Onyvaa delves even deeper into her otherworldly sonic soundscapes, proving once again why she is so highly regarded amongst her peers.

Stepping up for the 137th episode of the LWE Mix Series is São Paulo-born phenom, Wehbba. 

Having catapulted into the spotlight back in 2010 after his acclaimed debut album, Full Circle, the prolific producer powerhouse has been a constant source of brilliance with a stream of heavy hitting releases for the likes of Drumcode, Knee Deep In Sound, Tronic, Bedrock and Suara, to name but a few. Pushing a sound that’s forward thinking with a strong foundation of complex sonic textures, rich melodic expression and a deep understanding of tension and release, Wehbba takes flight with 2 hours of floor-shaking, peak-time, scorching techno.

Detroit’s Music Institute, KMS and Prescription, three of the most influential projects electronic music has ever seen and Chez Damier was the pivotal force in all. From providing a proving ground for emergent DJs like DJ-Wynn, Juan Atkins and Derrick May to producing transcending hits like ‘Can You Feel It’, ‘Untitled’, ‘Morning Factory’, ‘Sometimes I Feel Like’ and ‘Be My’, few have had a lasting impact on the global scene as big as the Chicago legend.
