There’s a certain aura that surrounds the music coming out of Romania. The scene, something that has been in existence since the early 90’s has long been acknowledged as a breeding ground for illustrious DJ’s and producer talent. Anyone with even a passing interest in underground electronic music will attest that. Melody Lab Selects foglight [SLCTS #16]

Israeli talent Adam Ten delivers his first EP on his imprint Maccabi House, marking the eighth release on the label since its launch in August of last year. Set for release this June, Adam’s 15 Days EP consists of three original tracks with psychedelic influences alongside a remix from rising duo Bonafique.

Speaking ahead of the EP’s release, Adam explained how “This is my first EP of 2022; I was carefully selecting the tracks that I made around the summer time last year when all the clubs and parties were returning and I felt inspired to write my interpretation of dance music once more. The 15 Days EP is a representation of the music direction I'm trying to push on Maccabi House, which is predominantly house music but with psychedelic and sometimes ethnic twists on top.” 

The title track opens the EP and sets the tone with a teasing bassline paired with prominent block percussions and a spoken female vocal asking the question; “Do you see it yet?”. Speak Out Your Soul follows as rapid drum patterns and melodies lead the way over a steady bassline. Contra Bass is next up and made in collaboration with close friend Yamagucci, resulting in an atmospheric and dancefloor-focused track. Rounding off the release, Bonafique remix 15 Days adding an upfront feel to the track with energetic breakdowns. 

Hailing from Tel Aviv, Maccabi House founder Adam Ten has shaped and developed a unique sound with a discography that boasts releases on the likes of Diynamic, Crosstown Rebels, Multinotes, Disco Halal, Selador and more. Melody Lab Selects Monblaire [SLCTS #17]

Pedro Capelossi makes a welcome return to Loot Recordings for his first proper single with the label. The Barcelona-based Brazilian delivers three new originals, layered with hazy soundscapes and jazz-driven melodies. “No One Left Behind” is a mesmerizing affair of twinkling piano riffs accompanied by waves of swelling synths and atmospheric, dreamy elements. The release includes two standout remixes from French house maestro Nhar and Argentina’s Nodo.

“Vivid Cream” is a deep groove with swaying synths and a trippy, chopped up vocals that give it a moody, psychedelic vibe for those weird late-night moments. “Soul Breaker” increases the energy with its punchy bass line, organic chord stabs and crisp timeless house rhythms.

The NODO remix of “Vivid Cream” is an elegant version that includes the original’s keys, fragmented vocals and synths. Intricate drum arrangements and percussive elements complement the late-night and delicate feeling. A real slow burner that’s the perfect sound to get lost in.

For this version of VOS, the Lab Coat is being worn by an extraordinary artist in the name of Sangeet. Assembled in his home studio in Berlin, the music addict put together a breathtaking voyage of spirits that blends ethnic aromas with deep, colourful sounds coming from his rich musical heritage.

Sangeet is a DJ and music producer with experience of more than 30 years, well known for combining tribal melodic grooves full of multi cultured influence that lifts up. Since 2017 he found his new musical home in the global downtempo family, releasing his music on outstanding labels like MŎNɅDɅ, Lump Records, Deep Bali Records, Bercana Music, Shango Records, Pipe & Pochet and Arts Vibes Music.
