the Labor Of Love series continues with more dubbed out disco made with love. Volume 2 sees the label enlist a couple of edit heroes in the form of Sleazy McQueen & Dicky Trisco, as well as serving up a speaker freaking spectacular all of their own. Whiskey Disco head honcho Sleazy McQueen soars in from his Orlando home to take control of the A-side here, making expert use of EQ and filtering to take the horn led hustle of "The Wrong Virrey" to the next level. Over the corner UK edit maestro Dicky Trisco gets slow and low with "And The Groove Goes On And On", treating us to the sleaziest joint this side of the old town. Wonky white-funk guitars ride the titular groove while that buzzing bassline and monosyllabic vocal slip something under your tongue. The label heads themselves take over edit duties on the last track, hitting us with sweeping strings, summery filters and snapping percussion on the low slung disco of "After Dark".

Back in the late 80s, the singer simply known as ‘RUSHING’ was a local sensation, performing to sold out crowds whenever he was booked for Chicagoland performances. No surprise when you hear the vocals on these incredible songs.
Both songs were recorded in 1987, but never released. Thankfully the the original reels were kept and have been restored, transferred and mastered for a vinyl release thirty three years later!

Austrian producer Manfred Kling, AKA Mannix, has a CV that takes in labels such as Midnight Riot, Peppermint Jam, Black Vinyl, Duff Note and Favouritizm. Now, he makes his Slightly Transformed debut with two original disco productions that capture that late 70s vibe while still sounding up-to-date. 'Find A Love' has the surging, looping feel of filter disco and sports a hefty b-line, near-falsetto male vox and euphoric brass, not to mention some subtle but impressive Rhodes work towards the end, while 'Stay Stay Stay' nudges even closer to disco-house territory with trumpet parps, soaring strings, Blaxploitation-esque guitar squalls and a boogie-style male vocal.

Mannix - Find A Love [Slightly Transformed]

Fray Bentos has been making waves for the past few years with his super funky Edits and Reworks for the likes of Katana and Alpaca Edits which picked up support from such legendary DJs such as Craig Charles over the years. This is his first outing on Hot Digits Music and what a debut it is for the Brighton based disco lover. The typically Pie-Based “Deep Filled EP” is a superb 4 tracker of quality disco sampling gear and arm raising roof raisers from the get go so there’s plenty to get your teeth into and some real bangers that will ease the winter pain and bring back fine memories of huge disco parties that we are all craving at the moment.
