The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White finds the label showcasing new interpretations of KYOTTO's ‘I Am Back' EP. Originally released in August of 2020 the three track showcase marked the Sri Lankan's label debut, furthering his steady climb through the progressive underground. Now looking to revitalize the tracks for 2021, Dopamine White invites Deviu and Carlos Pires to re-imagine two selections from the release. 

First up and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Antimony' is Rafael Lasso aka Deviu. Based in Pasto, the Colombian artist began his journey into electronic music production in 2014 under a variety of alias', before eventually settling on Deviu in 2020. Created as an outlet to explore the realms of deep, progressive and organic house, Rafael soon landed releases on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Diesis Records. Now making his Dopamine White debut, Deviu provides a stunning take on ‘Antimony'. Anchored by a warm, driving groove, its energetic core comes up quickly, with layers of finely tuned percussion and electric rhythms uniting for a swing heavy framework. Hopeful overlays marry emotive chord changes across the first act, elevating mood into a cinematic-style break, before a timely drop sparks an effects laden finale.  

Rounding out the release and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Sweet Escape' is Carlos Pires who makes his label debut. The Brazilian artist has been releasing his unique take on progressive house and techno for the better part of a decade. Releases for Dear Deer, Mind Connector Records and Vision 3 have been exceptional, now leading to his much-anticipated Dopamine White debut. Robust and groovy, it's a mesmerizing journey into the depths of progressive house. Tougher than the original, its muscular framework is offset with shimmering arps, effervescent effects and layers of buoyant percussion. Emerging melodies make for a steady rise into the main break, slowly opening up an emotional interlude underpinned with clustered chimes, before smoothly segueing into an exhilarating final movement. Rhythmic and musical in equal measure, it caps off a must have remix edition for KYOTTO's ‘I Am Back' EP.

The Return to Danger Bay EP is a power-packed two tracker with each sound perfectly crafted. Texturally, the EP has sonic warmth within the intensity of the tunes themselves. The title track, Return to Danger Bay, is a rager while Sudden Vertical Shift is exactly as the name suggests, creating a great b-side.

"Growing up in Ruhr an industrial area of west Germany, the strict straight edge way life that surrounded Pabel was haunting and a bleak outlook on the possible life to come.
Spending his childhood following illegal raves and the numerous clubs around the neighbouring cities he cemented his love for the thundering house and techno scene that was becoming evermore present around him.
Having being exposed to such a wide variety of genres, it was the deep and melodic techno sets that were giving Pabel the ambition and inspiration to start experimenting and playing out.
Having graduated from the dance floor Pabel had a deep understanding of how to control and move the room taking day sets in the lower BPM range to hammering top end early hour sets.
After various trips to Berlin it soon became clear that this would be the next step and base for Pabel to take up residence and further expose his talent and passion while also having a permanent studio for producing.
In 2016 Pabel became part of the Sarasvati Collective a group comprising of 8 German Dj/Producers throwing parties in and around Berlin. With an emphasis on bringing all walks of life to share good music and unforgettable times to the dance floor.
With the cut throat Berlin scene giving them the thumbs up the parties are gaining the recognition and praise they deserve.
With Pabel's profound sense to read the crowd and deliver exactly what’s needed on the dance floor in any environment or situation.

GMJ’s boundless passion for deep emotive electronic music has ensured his relentless rise up the ladder of global recognition.  It’s been a busy start to the year for GMJ, with solo releases on Balkan Connection, Vapour, Esta Caliente and Visceral, along with an ever-growing catalogue of collaborative projects with Matter (check their new, hotly tipped Meanwhile label).  A truly exceptional creator, GMJ’s previous onedotsixtwo appearances – ‘Efficacy’ (ODST001) and his remix of Griffin Paisley’s ‘Peak Flow’ (ODST008) – firmly tagged him as long-term family member, so this highly anticipated and overdue return was always going to be a highpoint. 

GMJ’s renowned deep rhythms and special textures are in full flow here.  The low-slung, slithering bassline groove, melded with eastern-influenced hooks and soaring heavenly atmospheres combine magically, to create the deliciously drifting euphoric experience that is ‘Periphery’.  Danidu & Hasith continue to stretch tame creative boundaries with their deeply powerful remix, as they weave an inspired magical spell by way of intricate harmonics, infused with their trademark majestic magnificence.

These two intensely passionate and supremely talented DJ/Producers are rising up out of the Sri Lankan electronic underground, both individually and together.  Danidu & Hasith’s combined unique vision, driven to deliver pure quality with essential attention to minute detail, saw this duo burst into the wider progressive collective consciousness through 2019. Connecting their creative minds in the studio resulted in head-turning remixes for Rick Pier O’Neil (twice), Nishan Lee and Ricardo Piedra. Their excellent Serendeep label is also flourishing and invigorating their home country's scene, whilst pushing artists onto the global stage.
