For the eight edition of their label catalogue, [selected] puts the focus on their residents again. The Berlin based duo Lyric are in charge of this one, putting hypnotizing loops and tantalizing rhythms as their main focus.
As it should be, the EP starts out with its „Introduction”. It is plain and simple – no playing around, straight to the point techno without unwanted attitude or makeup. Sounds creeping in and out, searching for their roots and restlessly evolving by any means necessary.
Only the universe is „Eternal”. The mesmerizing scapes and slashes that build the composition construct a feeling of endless enchantment, while leaving no room for doubts that this is – indeed – eternal.
„Neologism” digs deeper and explores the greater realms of the genre. Soft keys dangle over ones head like an asymmetric pendulum – drooling you in, putting you in a transcendent state where everything is nothing and no limits seem to exist.
While still in trance, „Hemisphere” puts a spin on the record’s atmosphere. The mind boggling loop character is still very present, the odd chord progression puts an unexpected twist on it. Almost nightmare-ish, the elements gather and layer around you like a snake that has just shed its skin.
For the finale A.Morgan puts his spin on „Hemisphere”. The chords get more stabby, a range of belly, clinching percussion are eager to express themselves, tumbling through spheres of light and darkness.

Hailing from the formerly industrial west coast of Scotland, Ex_Machina.DJ is no stranger to the hard, dark, and fast realms of industrial techno. He is part of the Voight-Kampff collective and recently performed as part of their rave series Jaded at Corsica Studios in London as well as hosting and performing at parties across Scotland. Having released an array of podcasts on respected labels across the globe, he is now turning his efforts to productions and aims to blend his dramatic hardcore style with the new wave of industrious sounds being rinsed across Europe and beyond. Born in Sofia but currently residing in London, SLLAV describes himself as a serious music enthusiast with an affiliation towards the more dynamic side of techno. Heavily influenced by classic rock and the electronic sound from the early to mid-2000s, his approach is a combination of galloping bottom-end and thundering percussion backed up by those necessary melodic moments. In the last couple of years, he gained valuable experience playing at clubs such as Fabrica 126 in Sofia, Corsica Studios and E1 in London and Griessmuehle in Berlin. Having started his DJ journey with KODEN, a Birmingham-based crew, he is now a regular face at the infamous Jaded after-hours. Some of the more notable acts that he has had the chance to support include Dax J, VSK, Scalameriya, Stephanie Sykes, Airod and more. He recently released via Khazad Records and is now focusing on enhancing his production skills to deliver the sound he envisages.
