"Beyond The Silk Road" starts like a Contemporary Chinese Composition and finishes in a Middle Eastern groove. It showcases the possibility of endless choices within ethnic/alternative orchestral arrangements, illustrating ideas that could work perfectly as BGM motifs.

Beyond The Silk Road

"Song For Cernunnos" is a String Orchestra/Quartet arrangement that brings Celtic melodies into the realm of fine chamber music. The composition displays the subtle tone colour changes that the String Quartet is capable of. This sort of music could be used in a variety of different ways, from Advertisement and Title Music to BGM.

"Remission" is  quirky Compositional Jazz Waltz with an identity crisis. One minute it is reminiscent of heraldic or baroque arrangements, the next sleazy tom-driven blues rock. The idea was to create piece that showed the variety of tonal colour and humour that can be discovered with spontaneous shifts in texture. This sort of tactic or the composition itself would suit well in Advertisements, Title Music and Cartoons.

Remission

Proboner is a song I composed for my band, Godswounds. We've toured throughout Australia, Taiwan and Japan and will be recording our first full length album with celebrated producer Toshi Kasai (Tool, Melvins, Big Business, Red Sparowes) in January, 2011. The track showcases my love of combining electronic music with heavy guitars and the traditional rock backline. This also conveys my love of chiptune (80s/90s video game music) paying homage to it with the keyboard sound and breakdown section.

Proboner

I've always been a big fan of Sax Quartets and the incredible array of tonal possibilities when arranging for them. This arrangement was performed by the BESOM sax quartet on Australian radio. It is highly complex, with a lot of ideas and was a lot of fun for the players to find their voices in. It could be used for theatre, film or montage work.

Car Eater (Sax Quartet Version)

"Embers" is a longer track that showcases a lot of subtle different musical ideas from New Noir to Post Rock, giving a taste of the capabilities of composed rock music throughout the quiet-to-loud spectrum. It could easily be used in any sort of contemporary media, from film to television. I've always thought this style of music could have a real impact in video games, as well, but does not seem to be used very much.

Embers

"The Game" is a song I composed for a demo for a new Visual K artist in Thailand via a Japanese producer. Visual K is such an interesting sub genre because it combines the song structures and melodies of pop with the darkness of rock, electronic and even experimental music to some degree. Contact me if you'd like to hear the melody line/lyrics I wrote for this song, as well.

"Upper Management Weekender" showcases some of the great ways electronic music can be used. This track contains elements of electro, chiptune, drum'n'bass, power electronics, compositional, concrete and good old fashioned industrial rock. Many different elements of this could have uses as divergent as Indie Films, Promo Reels and, of course, Video Game music.

"Smog Monster" is another track written for my band, Godswounds. It features elements of Hip Hop, Trip Hop, Ambient and Metal, illustrating a lot of the darker textures possible through the medium of rock music. It also gives away my obsessive love of kaiju! The piece is dedicated to one of my favourite Godzilla films and even features a sample from it.

Smog Monster

Lachlan is a Sydney Composer, Arranger, Musician and Theatre Practitioner who has toured internationally and created a vastly eclectic body of work for purposes as varied as film scores and live performance game pieces.
