This track was created by Antifolk founder Lach, and Glaswegian artist Modifier for the BBC Radio 4 series "The Lach Chronicles". The lyric started out as a poem and is featured in Lach's book, "The Thin Book of Poems". The poem was telling folks that coming to Lach's Antihoot was about a lot more than worrying when you'd get on stage, a lot more than leaving right after your set, it was about community, hanging out, being part of something bigger than yourself, creating relationships, magic and all that groovy stuff that makes a scene a scene. Still holds true today at yr local music dive!

"I'm doing my first tour in three years and I really want to keep my fans, club staff, and myself healthy as best I can. Antifolk has always been about community, we look out for each other. So, I created 'The Mask Game'. Folks will get free numbered masks as they enter, and then throughout my set, I'll raffle off awesome merch. Cool, right? Folks bringing their own masks will also get a number.
Look, we're in strange times, but ignoring the truth has never been my style. We NEED to hang-out, share songs and stories, and be together. But, we also want to stay healthy (and complete the tour!)

"I don't wish to 'explain' this song, rather, I'd love to hear what it evokes within each listener. For now I will say this about some of the production aspects, this was a two-month long project and a breakthrough in several ways for me in my work, not the least of which, was creating a 'river of sound' instead of Phil Spector's 'wall of sound'. The initial inspiration for the song was from an Instagram post by my friend Benmont Tench that had the hashtag #BloodOnTheSteinway". I commented on it with a poem and then that poem became the lyric to this single. The organ and piano parts are in the kind of style of the legendary Nicky Hopkins who was an influence on both Benmont and myself. I tell ya, every time I listen to it, I hear something new, especially as I hear it from different speakers. Have fun with it, I know I did!" - Lach

	Lach says, “I actually dig all of it or I wouldn’t do it. The albums, the books, the radio show, I see them all as just falling under the general umbrella of being a writer. But it’s at the gigs that it all comes together and I’m so lucky to have an audience that’s there for the ecstatic live moments like I am whether I’m singing a song, telling a story or just riffing. No genre, no definitions just that campfire glow of total possibility.”

	Three years ago Lach moved from New York City’s Lower East Side, where he hosted the most successful, longest-running open mike in town, to Edinburgh, Scotland. Since then he has been constantly touring the UK and building up a fanatically loyal indie-club circuit. Not surprising for a man that founded a worldwide music and art movement and who’s been compared to Dylan and Lenny Bruce in the same breath with the admonishment, “You’ve got to see him live!”

	With his UK touring circuit firmly intact Lach has begun inviting some of his favorite performers along for the ride. Past UK tours have included bills with Suzanne Vega and Hamell on Trial, duets with Florence and The Machine and in July 2015 Lach will be double-billed on The Revolving Doors Tour with multi-platinum artist Chris Barron (of The Spin Doctors). Two journeymen from New York’s East Village mixing tales of the Rock and Roll life with songs that are loved by millions. Not to be missed!
