"Broken is about being fragile in a way, but also learning to stand up for yourself. The first half was representative of me while writing it. At the time I was undergoing a big transformation in my life and trying to give my all to someone who I cared about but didn't want getting too close. They were represented by the second half of the track because while I was bringing myself down from a high point, they were trying to come up from their lowest. When you're underwater and looking towards the surface, you can get a rough scope for what's happening on the other side, but the deeper you go the more difficult that becomes. I didn't know it but bringing myself down also meant I was that person's weight, dragging them further from their dreams. In the end we broke our promises, but while the words meant nothing, the experiences helped us grow and allowed me write one of my most proud singles to date." - Paper Skies

A very early version of 'Dreams' was sent to us by Meisym in the beginning of this year and we instantly fell in love with the idea but felt it needed a bit more grit and energy. After bouncing a couple of ideas back and forth we landed on this wall-of-sound style chorus which continues the theme from the pre-chorus but in a much more dramatic and distorted kind of way. A dream is a succession of images, ideas and emotions. It’s an alternate state of mind that oftentimes is confusing and you seldomly understand the purpose of. We tried our best to encapsulate that exact feeling in this collaboration. It’s a sonic adventure that blasts you off into a mysterious and dark space with it’s off-kilter synths and melancholic vibes." - SKUM & Meisym
