This is a mix dedicated to a beautiful friend who recently moved away from Nelson to the coast. The dance floor is where we met and our friendship grew into brotherhood. So grateful for all the groovin' we've squeezed into the time we've known each other. C-love LOVES the bangers, so this one is a lil' rowdy. Much love to y'all and to the people you may find yourself missin' on the D floor from time to time. It was a JOY to open the 2023 Mesa Por Vida party with so many happy dancers gracing this beautiful desert dance floor under the open sky, between the junipers and ancient pinions, as we dove into a sublime late summer sunset. Thank you, thank you, thank you Team Everything and Mesa lovers from near and far. Like a Swan Song to the Mesa, let's call this a Pinion Jay serenade, a Nighthawk hoot, a Raven's Caw to the enchanting and restorative experience it is to gather each year on these special lands of the Tewa.

**the first 10 minutes of this set, an ambient journey, are dedicated to my tireless, kind and deeply co-creative collaborators that are Team Everything that produce the Mesa Party each year, and who generate so many other stunning dancefloor moments during the rest of the year. I started this way as a gift to my friends, a moment of rest before the bump of the party. Love you all dearly **

Dem Nah Wan War Wit Mi - By Elementry

Love. What does it mean to you? There is a vast spectrum of how we experience love, perceive it, feel it, express it, and create it. During the month of February, I played two sets right around Valentine’s Day that had me organizing all my “love music.” I started to think about  all that love means to me. I noticed that in recent years, I’ve found myself searching for love in the form of a romantic relationship. Searching for a person who wants to receive my love and travel with me on this journey of life. With all that has passed, I’ve often thought, what can I do differently, what can I do better, what is it about me that is too much or not enough? In the midst of my reflections, I happened to come across the following quote by feminist writer, teacher, activist, and scholar Bell Hooks. She says, “I think that part of what a culture of domination has done is raise that romantic relationship up as the single most important bond, when of course the single most important bond is that of community.” It resonated with me so profoundly that I read it out while introducing myself before one of my sets. It made me more cognizant of the fact that the unending support of my community is what has carried me through the empty valleys of the lows. All that I am, all that I have, all that I can be, is rooted in community. I’m so grateful for all of you who are part of my life and continue to invest your time and energy into our relationship. It has been a hard last 6 months. With work causing me to retreat from my usual relationships, I have felt like an absent friend to many. A friend who hasn’t shown up isn’t who I want to be, and it hasn’t felt good. Nevertheless, I feel you. I get your messages of support. I know you are there for me even when I’m not able to be there for you, and that is so appreciated. While my community has carried me through my lows, you’ve also lifted me up to my highest highs. The collective joy we create on the dance floor is absolutely incredible. Bell Hooks writes in All About Love: New Visions, “whether we learn how to love ourselves and others will depend on the presence of a loving environment. Self-love cannot flourish in isolation,” and in a separate passage, “rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” I wouldn't know how to love all parts of myself and others if it wasn’t for the loving environment that I am supported by. This community propels me to love more, to be love, and to embody it in my everyday interactions. I heal when I am with you. This last quote by Hooks is a reminder of how I can continue to grow my practice of love in my life and expand my notion of community. “We can begin the process of making community wherever we are. We can begin by sharing a smile, a warm greeting, a bit of conversation; by doing a kind deed or by acknowledging kindness offered to us. Doing this, we engage in love practice [... and] we lay the foundation for the building of community with strangers. The love we make in community stays with us wherever we go. With this knowledge as our guide, we make any place we go, a place where we return to love.” This mix is a dedication to you, my community. My best friends. My family. My loves. Nickodemus Sunset Moonrise Mix @ Deep Tuesday Costa Rica 2024

The sunrises in the desert are something extremely special and even more so when I had the privilege of DJ'ing for the first time at Burning Man ~ at one of the most unique places and experiences on earth - on the sound art car, Rexan, a "burnified" South Arican double decker Safari jeep from the Sundowners Burning Man camp. This set is actually re-recorded since in true dusty fashion - you never know what can happen, the set did not record. So here it is re-created for your listening pleasure. In dust we trust, except... when it comes to digital sound recording equipment. Dreaming of that glorious morning with you all. Until next time....

Special note: as I re-recorded this set, I at times, closed my eyes and transported myself back to the desert....and the feeling of forgiveness came to me. For my eldest brother Steve who has not spoken to me in over 20 years. I forgive you; I forgive myself and I "pray to see the day" where there will be different "versions of ourselves", able to meet each other with grace, love and forgiveness. You deserve that and so do I. Freedom.  Life is way too short to hope for anything else.

House of Gusto on Sundowner's Rexan - Burning Man 2023

This amazing full moon has brought about some deep reflection energy for me so I decided to offer this mix looking back on 2020. Sending out a reminder as February leaves the age of Aquarius is here! I know there is a lot of uncertainty these days and I am reminded to be next to the earth as much as possible. Big love to everyone!
