After years in law enforcement, I saw too many lives broken by the streets—young people lost, searching for love in all the wrong places, carrying more pain than they could bear. Child of the Night was written from that reality. It’s the story of a girl who seemed forgotten, but reminds us that no one is ever beyond the reach of God’s love.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). That truth is what this song is about: no matter how dark the night, His light can break through.

When the world calls someone worthless, He calls them daughter. When the streets say there’s no way out, He says, “I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine” (Isaiah 43:1).

This song is for every “child of the night” I ever met on the job—and for anyone who needs to know there’s hope, healing, and a home in Christ.
