The eighth edition is being hosted by German sound collagists LÄUTEN DER SEELE. Exclusively for the Lärm series, prolific main man Christian Schoppik (also Brannten Schnüre, Freundliche Kreisel, etc.) assembled an autumnal mix ranging from minimal wave, to obscure ambient, to somnambulist dark folk, to baroque Schlager to as well as his own projects. And much like the latter, this collection of songs and sketches seems like a shadowy walk through glowing images of the past – personal or collective, real or imagined –, images of wonder and bewilderment that one might have forgotten throughout a lifetime, that sank and half-reflected glimmered on – an introspective, subtly nostalgic musical language that's right up our alley!

I put this selection together for the @lifesaversnyc 010* party to reflect my mood and the mood of my peers at that moment in time. For me specifically, this was a channel to express my emotions toward the Palestinian genocide. Weeks before, I had dedicated my Lot Radio show** to calling for a ceasefire and expressing my frustration at the situation but due to the format of my radio show, a single-subject retrospective, I felt the need to create a subsequent mix where I could connect disparate and varied sounds to culminate into a single message. 

Leading up to the event**, I'd spent time with Jordy and met Zarina at a Palestine Forever event. Just like with my other friends and acquaintances, the genocide dominated our conversations, doubly so considering the DJ-industry-specific conversation around Berlin radio station Hör. I wanted to comment on these relevant topics with this mix, selecting stalwarts of the Berlin music scene, like Shed, and colliding that against an Arabic 45 I collected back when I worked at Captured Tracks record shop. 

Considering the wonderful company I was in on the bill too, I felt a responsibility to open up the night with a pointed sonic direction that I could hand off to the other DJs.
